"Quikly Game Studio is a drag and drop style game making package, similar to FPSC, only you can make different style games and it outputs DBPro source code. Interested? Take a peek." - TheGameCreators Newsletter December 2005 (hehe I'm proud of that ) - ( Edit - Also featured heavily in January 2006 Newsletter Awesomeness!)

Hi everyone

Release Date, and EA available NOW!

Quikly 3d Studio Pro is getting a FULL release on the 14th of February. This date will not slip for 2 reasons ( ) :
1. I have every day off work til then
2. The boxed products are already paid for & are being made on the 12th, then sent out first class!

As a time limited offer, Quikly Studio Pro is available to preorder, with an EA version being delevered as download link. (Ok so Christmas is over but you deserve a present ) This version will be only £19.99 and will include the full boxed product for FREE including delivery once released. Heres what you get:

By Email:
EA Version of Quikly Game Pro, (updates every few days till release)
FULL Version of Quikly Model Pro (worth £9.99)
Access to Quikly Media bank, 100s of models and textures

By February 14th:
All the above, plus....
FULL Version of Quikly Game Pro
FULL Version of Quikly Tree Pro
FULL Version of Quikly Terrain Pro
FULL Version of Quikly Texture Pro

I appreciate most people will want to wait for the full release and when proper demos are available - but I'm having lots of emails pressuring me to release it early, and I thought it'd be a nice gesture to forum members to make it available early for a cut price for early adopters, like FPSC.

For people buying this cut price version, you will still be entitled to all updates for life and never be charged extra for any new features.

As time is limited I can't release a new demo yet (I'd have to disable a load of stuff etc otherwise I'd be giving away the full product) but I will endeavour to do so soon. Till then the old versions are still available to download here:

Game Pro: http://www.quikly.com/gamepro/demo/gamepro003.rar
(EA version will have many new wall types and styles, multiple weapons, sound, HUD and more camera options + fix most bugs + include DBPro code Output)

Model Pro: http://www.quikly.com/modelpro/demo/modelpro101.rar
(All missing features will be included)

And for those with no cash: theres still a xmas pressie for you, I've made a free, slightly cut down version of Model Pro, for tgc forum members http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=67573&b=5

To pay for the EA release or request your free version, pm me at my forums http://www.quikly.com/forums (don't want to post an email for fear of spam monsters )

Wow, I've had a LOT more EA orders than I expected - MANY thanks to everyone who had the faith in me to order this. Less than 24 hours before I have to email the EA copies out, so I am busy beavering away to add as many cool features/models/tutorials etc as possible before I do them! I have bought more webspace, bandwidth and even got a few backup servers to make sure everything goes without a hitch!

To everyone who has requested a free version of Model pro, I'm delivering them at the same time as the full versions late this evening (xmas eve) - twill make a nice present for ya Apologies for the slightly late deliervy, but once I saw how many orders I was actually getting I panicked and thought I'd better work 10 to the dozen to make this as cool as possible for everyone who's bought an EA version Its going to be a very happy christmas for these people

[Edit] I've got loads of cool stuff to show you guys, but I can't post screens etc until I've emailled out the EA versions, so expect a nice update very early xams morning - and then I'm taking a whole day off for a change

Great job on the release...don't quit it!

Can I just add I GAVE NO FREE COPIES OF STUDIO PRO! (except to Torrey for the use of the advanced audio plugin)

Sorry it seems people got confused. The free copies are of a limited version of Model Pro ONLY.

People who bought/buy the EA version of Studio Pro get EA and Full copies of Game Pro, Model Pro, and soon many more, including Texture pro, Tree Pro and Terrain Pro

How to get the free version of model pro ONLY is detaiulled in a sticky on the Program Announcements on these forums, and on the gamepro forums at quikly.com/forums.

Cheers!

Megaton:

"Man, you gotta hurry up and add tile-support so I can start making levels already. This slow "paint wall" thing is junky."

Not sure what you mean? in the new version (demo soon) you can use model pro to make your own wall, roof and floor types for paiting. Of course you could also make a floor object with walls and roof attached, and use them as "tiles" - these will be saved as prefabs.

Also if you use the scale up version you can make each square larger, and build a "floor" that is actually a whole building, for easy city scapes for gta/street racing games etc.

If this isn't what you meant, let me knwo - I'm very keen to add all requested featrues that I realistically can...

"Great job on the release...don't quit it!"

Thanks man! Its been hardgoing cos my laptop to PC connection f'd up so I temporarily lost all work I'd been doing for the last week whilst visiting relatives I've been frantically copying files and source code over via floppy disk and recompiling stuff for registered users hense why no big updates or screenshots here yet, as I have to prioritse those who've already paid! However its vey much back on track and I'll post some cool screenies and details here soon, maybe tonight

Looking good. Did I hear mention of 3rd person capability? Also Terrains and of course scripting. If so, and it all works, you'll be on a winner I'm thinking.

Thank you!

Yes third person games are quite easily possible, in many different styles - I'm working to put some demos, examples and tutorials about other styles of games so I'll post them soon

Terrains are currently implemented, and by version 1.04EA (within a week) will be fully in, along with advanced terrains with real time lighting, also nice shader water, with physics based buoyancy.

New 1.03 download of GamePro for registered users tonight, lots of bug fixes and a few nice lil features to make it more user friendly

Ok I said on the New Year I'd start posting more details about the other parts of Quikly Studio coming in Feb, for starters here's a screenshot of a Treepro tree

(the textures are from TreeMagic and are temporary, I'll make my own soon)

This tree was randomly generated by various specified values in the Treepro. I based the way the trees are made from my take on the best techniques and methods from other tree genertors like Tree Magic and TreeD, obviously the billboarding and trunk generation are very similar, i'm still perfecting it to my tastes though. It will output to .x and be compatible with dbc, dbpro and Quikly Game Pro (of course!) As you can see there are slight zbuffer issues at the moment, but I think it looks quite nice

Kangaroo , seppuku arts

HAS suggested me to make a programming rendering program with good support for your quickly game studio - rendering program. (i mean for special support for that , but also for models made in your modeler..)

So i would like to cotribue that to you if you agree ?

Ok , what should it have :
*It can firstly load 3d model
*It can set a rendering resolution
*-have all kinds of rendering effects (maby)--
*Possibility to render to .exe file
*Possibility to make simple rotation animation of object and save it as .exe file
*Possibility of making simple rotation animations with MUSIC in background and save it as .exe file !
*Possibility of texturing models (just for rendering)
*Possibility to save rendered file to .bmp or .jpg
*model pack for testing and for any use of quiclky game studio apps..
(that model pack will be my conrtibue , too)
------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------

So , do you like the idea ? (don`t worry i can make it true..)
and if you do want it , please choose a name (maby you would like it to be called quickly game studio renderer or something...)
---------------------------------------------------------------

can your program compiler into .exe (i guess it can ...)

i also have a question : How do you use it , do you just use it like a level editor , how do you add events (i`l maby buy it , but i cant recive the free version becouse of my very slow internet connection)

Andrew - thanks man!

Hi Dodic

"can your program compiler into .exe (i guess it can ...)"
Kindof. Because its made with dbpro it doesn't make a new exe everytime (to do that would involve reverse engineering and including dbpro dlls whic is against tos) but instead has a standard exe. file which is renamed to the name of the game and then either the separate media with a script, or a pak style file is added which is unique to every game. To compile a completely new exe file the user would have to buy dbpro and compile it through that.

"How do you use it , do you just use it like a level editor , how do you add events"
Theres scripting which can be done by clicking options in a table or typing in a text file for adding events, which can be attributed to many factors, ie when the level starts, when a certain ammount of points are gained, when you step inside certain boundaries, etc

As for a renderer, that sounds interesting I was thinking of adding a simple "render" to model pro which would essentially laod the model in dbpro, put a floor object, then light the object, add a shadow and take a screenshot. Also the same method could be used for small animations for previews in the editor.

If you want to make a separate renderer that would not use the dbpro engine you're very welcome to do so, essentially it would just need to be able to load .x files (with uv mapped points but no texture) and apply a the texture separately (it does this so that you can use multiple textures fo the same object, like team colours, paint jobs on cars etc ) I can supply you with an example x file and texture if you wish

ok , so you want to be able to put object on a room and so..

i`m still thinking between making it a VERY simple scripting language , or a "VISUAL" editor..

if it remains a scripting laguage i can add like some scritps for : put it on a table in a room and such...

Ok sure, no pressure/hurry but if you want to make that kind of thing you are very welcome too If you wouldn't mind though, rather than post about it in this thread (which may confuse people) could you post a new thread about it in the Quikly.com forums instead? Thanks
