Here is my entry. I don´t speak english very well, so I hope you understand me and help me.
We`ll use Fpsc, and I´don´t know if I´ll have time to finish till deadline, but I`ll try.
FPSC is a great program, TGC have at his hands a wonderful concept for the people that wants to make games or prototypes.
Not just for hobbists , but for the wonderful 3Dartists around the world that do not have access to big publishers and don´t know or don´t want to learn how to code.
The creativity, originality, is at these artists hands, and they just want to create yours own worlds.
Here is my world.

BIGHATBOY - THE HOOD HILL

In a world were all people uses hats ,a teenage find a magic hat. The big hat , that will give him powers to create
what he want from sheets of paper. He will travel the world and find tribes and civilizations that are marked
for the type of hat they use, like cowboys , indians , soldiers , clowns , etc... searching for the knowledge
that the BigHat will teach to him, and also trying to unshrink his friend, that was transformed on a paper
airplane by the Lord of the Hats. His big enemy The Lord of the Hats wants at any cost the power
of the big hat to amplify his powers to manipulate paper. The Lord can create monsters
and weapons from a simple piece of papers to dominate the world.

More is coming...

Alemar

Ok let´s play the game.
After show you what the basics concepts behind the BIGHATBOY , and you understand thats the game is about the second story, here the concept storyline to:

BIGHATBOY - THE HOOD HILL.

BigHatBoy initiates the first part of his journey, looking for the Magical Hat maker who can say to him how to control the BigHat.
He will discover that this will be a journey to search for wisdom and force.
He will find many civilizations, tribes and communities where everybody uses different hats.

During his course he finds a valley below of a mountain: THE HOOD HILL . In this valley a village exists where a tribe of very bizarre people who only wears hoods and never show their faces, lives.
The people of the village of the hood hill, loves a goddess in whose altar a papyrus exists, that, according to the legend, is magical, and the Goddess is the protector of this papyrus.
The papyrus keeps secrets on the manipulation of paper.
The papyrus was stolen.
The inhabitants of the village of the hood hill are despaired and they believe that the stole of the papyrus is causing strange incidents that are happening in the community, and for the dry and deforestation that is happening in the Valley.
They feel that strange things are happening inside of the hood hill; earthquakes and smoke escaping from the mountain;
they judge to be a bad omen; the dissatisfaction of the Goddess because of the robbery of the papyrus.
BigHatBoy and Stup arrive at the village at this moment and decide to investigate what is happening inside of the Hood Hill.
at this moment the game starts.
BHB and STup, enter in the hood hill and discover that the Lord Of the Hats installed there a big laboratory and wants to use the knowledge of the papyrus to increase his paper manipulation powers to dominate the world.
At this laboratory, there is a big labyrinth, some monsters and strange characters populate different rooms, and the BigHatBoy will have to face them and solve interesting puzzles to open the passages that lead to the room where the papyrus is.
What the Lord discovers is that he will also need the image of the Goddess to finish his experiments.
The mission of the BigHatBoy: to recover the papyrus and do not permit that the Goddess be taken to the inside of mountain.
If he succeeds, the power of the BigHat will increase and he will bring the peace to the valley of the hood hill.

Very bizarre... and very awesome! I'm honestly COMPLETELY sick of generic FPS's... I think F.E.A.R. was the last straw for me. All the hype about the thrills and chills, and it was just another lame soldier-slaughterthon.

I think my biggest disappointment with F.E.A.R. was that it was from Monolith, the makers of some of my very favorite shooters: Blood 1+2, Shogo, NOLF 1+2. They all had great style, and level of uniqueness to them, even if their core was the same as the next shooter.

Anyway, that's what this game has the potential to be: something familiar, yet utterly unique and enticing. I love the off-the-wall plotline, and paper styled artwork. Good luck with this one, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread.

Thank you!
The hats in this world are very crazy... she`ll have her own hat...

Thank you man.
I allways try to be original and think out the box... some people love, others don´t... I don´t care...

Love the style, Alemar, reminds me a bit of Ocarina of Time (well -- the character in the second screenshot, anyway )

Like the emphasis on hats!

Like your website too - really unique - like a big sketchbook!

Looking forward to seeing more! Good luck!

Hi
BIGHATBOY is a long history...
Is made to be a series for comics, TV and games.
Before I show you my level concepts for the compo, this is about the second episode - BIGHATBOY, THE HOOD HILL, let me introduce you how this history begin...

"THE BIGHATBOY"

There is a world where everybody wear hats.
One day, a child named David, went to an old and dusty small hat store, to buy his hat,
because it was his time of wearing a hat.
David wasn´t expectecting much, he just wanted a simple hat.

When he arrived at the store he saw the hat seller, an old man, who was wearing a pierrot hat,he was working making some hats.

The store was full of shelves full of hats of all kinds.
David starts moving around looking for a hat who will call his atention...
He saw a big hat at the corner of the store and asked the old man "Does this hat have an owner?
He seems so old" the old man starts laughing

"Maybe this is the Great Hat, the hat that everybody wants, who gives the owner great powers."

"Hahahahahaha but this old hat isn´t the Great Hat, you fool ! No one wants that old hat !"

David was trying a simple hat when he realizes that the big hat was moving,
David went closer to the hat to see how
what it moving when the hat suddenly flyed and went straight to David´s head.

A great light takes place at the store. The big hat now was shining,
and releasing lots of things from his top part.
He threw some objects, and one of the objects was a Missile Plataform.
The missile get armed but them went back inside the hat.

An evil man was seeing everything that was happening at the store.
A man with a huge cape and a chinese hat,
that had a lot of skills on the edges, each of them wearing a different hat.

"The Great Hat ! I finally found it ! It is going to be MINE!!"
SEE THE VIDEO HERE

Back to the store, the light of the hat is wearing off, the hat stops moving over David´s head.
A huge spiral had been draw over the top of the hat.

The old man, owner of the store, is starred.

Even when David tried to take the hat off it didn´t move,
David couldn´t take it off his had. "How is it possible? How do I take it off?"
"You can´t" said the old man "It is the Great Hat, he choose you, like the legend said.
The one who carries the Great Hat will start the The Mission..."

"You must find the Magic Hat Maker, he will tell you how to use this hat ! But be aware boy,
there is a lot of gangs on this world that want that hat of yours.
You will face a lot of dangers on your journey."

"The Lord of the Hats will be your greatest enemy. He steal the hats
of people and take control of their souls.
A evil creature that can creat monster from a simple piece of paper. He is searching
for the Great Hat for a long time,
because with its power he will be able to control everything."

"I will take it, and i am going to find the Magic Hat Maker,
he will tell me how to use these hat."

The boy left the store.

The owner of the hat store whispers to the boy,
"From now on you will be know as Big Hat Boy, your fame will spread to all the corners of the world."

Big Hat Boy disapear on the numb...

Wow, great story, and I love the visual style. But I am wondering, how are you going to use shaders in this?

Big whorls have little whorls which feed on their velocity,
Little whorls have lesser whorls and so on to viscosity. - Lewis F. Richardson

Wow. By far the best style yet. Nice story also.

But are you sure this is fpsc? Because I can't see this story working under the fpsc rules for the compo, or how this game could work in the 1st person prespective.

And check the vid flibXOr, if has some shaders already.

BIGHATBOY was created in black and white and initially concepted for comics.

But the animation series and games are not black and white.
This video animation show a hypothetical
situation when the BIGHATBOY finds the Lord of the Hats
for a combat. The environment and illumination are colored. However,
the force of the artistic concept is not lost...

Wow! Wierd yet interesting style! Reminds me of Okami, but Okami is more on japanese traditional style (and I don't like jap traditional...)

Programmers does a big participation in a game, yet they have the least credit.

Excellent graphic style, this game is instantly set apart from every other entry so far graphically. Might I also add that graphics have a lot to do with scoring this year as well.

Keep up the good work.

If you can get the gameplay anywhere near as good as the visuals you have got a major contender on your hands.

you think those looks like a old fashion game?

Thank you man.
I don´t believe I`ll have a great gameplay at the end... I´m working alone in this poject , my own studio is involved in a animation production right now, and my knowledge in FPSC is no long... so I´m giving a great atention to concepts and models and enviroment. But I´m sure that if I`ll have more time to produce $$$ I can refine the game play a lot...ehehehehe. Anyway I´ll try!

Here is the screenshot about my level.
I´m developing it in SketchUp, and is very simple.
Sketchup is a good tool for my concept. It force me to work at a low poly enviroment and is good to type of art that I´m developing to BIGHATBOY. Sharp edges is the key about this work and I´m triyng use this to find a particular style.
Sketchup has a powerful snap , and is good to make tiles, simulating the FPSC editor. So, now I have a good sketch in how my level will be.
I will make the tiles and reconstruct the enviroment inside FPSC.
All entities and items will be export to FPSC and I use others apps to model and paint them too.
The pictures that I´ll begin to post don´t reflect the final look inside FPSC of course , and I work at Photoshop to find a good look to this pictures.
I know that FPSC don´t have bloom, hdri, etc... no problem.I tried FPSC already and I know that I can get good results with it.
At BigHATBOY art this is more evident because I never try to be Realist.I try to be Expressionist.
And FPSC is a good choice to this.I´m sure.
When I begin to post the screens inside the engine we´ll see better.
At this moment , the level screenshot showing the Lord´s laboratory inside the HoodHill and scrrensshot about the first room and a enemy character:
Tutankaboard , a mumia made of boxes of cardboard.
more is coming...

AHAHAHA... ok!
About this forgot to say:
All the characters, vehicles, weapons and accessories, can be created with paper...
Some are more complex than others to be mounted and requires some ability and patience...
They are like puzzles.
It is a collectable toy and it brings for
the real world the experience of
constructing paper models,therefore
all the concept of the series is
related with the ability of the hero to
make paper objects.
Look to the photos!Itis not a 3D rendering!

Great art + nice graphics = Oh crap! That's awsome! I hope you can finish it!

Programmers does a big participation in a game, yet they have the least credit.

This is so beautiful!!!

Far better than anything I have seen in this "papergame-genre" (Paper Mario, First Paper Shooter etc.)

This could be the true new "Grim Fandango"!

I admire your work!

Merry Christmas! Zilla

Great work so far, Alemar. It's the first time I've seem game graphics look low polygon for a specific reason (ie: that they're made of paper - like origami).

Style and character/environmental designs are great, keep it up!

I hope you can create a playing style as unique as the graphics!

Take a break over Christmas, k?!

PS: Never thought I'd see someone use Zbrush properly as a "3d photoshop" - great stuff for "The Pain of War" - reminds me of Dali! (just had a look at your thread over at ZBrushCentral).
