Maybe I'll enter this one... I know I've been saying that for the last three competitions, but I do have need to make some futuristic vehicles for a certain project anyhow, so this may give me a good chance to break from coding and make some media.

My first WIP pic:

I'm going for a futuristic racer, sort of like something from the F-Zero series.

@Aralox: that's from 2 years ago. I don't think anyone will be entering models from then.

I thought I would try my hand at a modeling competition, though I will admit I'm not that good at modeling.

Here's a quick color sketch I did of part 1 of my vehicle:

my pwns all! lol

Edit:
Here's a second color sketch I just finished of the next part of my vehicle:

I'm going to try and make something that can be used in my game. Just in case you're interested, here are some futuristic vehicles for said game that i made earlier.

decided to try a high poly approach, since i've never have tried high poly models. Heres a wip, about 1 hour of work. I thought this would be the easiest place to start, and then work my model around that. I plan on using the built in shaders and not any textures since I wouldn't know how to go about it, lol.

Will work some more on this after I finish my Blastwave Saga Ship Editor tonight.

since this is a dead give away of what I'm making I'll clarify the concept for the beer can. If you watch then end of BTTF I, and the beginning of the II one, you'll see Doc using some eggs, bananas and a miller high life to fuel the time machine

and heres a nerdy fact, if you watch the opening of the second one closely, you'll notice that Marty's girlfriend is played by a different actor, and that they actually had to re-shoot the scene for the second movie check it out

"...roads!? Where we're going, we won't need...ROADS."

Nice BTTF stuff.
I'm going to make a futuristic AFV. "Doga" isn't that great for making completed models, but is cool for knocking up stuff quickly, and I tend to get ideas by happy accident. Here's what i came up with. Next step is to use Milkshape to make something like it but better.

My latest progress:

I added some docking gear for it. It uses magnets to hold the racer until the race is about to start, when it will rotate the magnet clamps up and then go into the floor. I've also done some stuff with the front end of it. I'll probably start texturing it soon.

@Mr tank: That looks cool! I love that game that you're working on so I hope this model comes out good.

here's my first wip. despite the image, it's not actually textured at all yet. i just photoshopped the blank model a bit to get an idea in my head of what i want the final thing to look like.

i played with the idea that in the future, assault vehicles will develop increased versatility and manouverability.

therefore i designed a tank that could walk around whilst allowing the driver to shoot accurately using joystick controlled gun arms, that could then transform into a hover tank that can move at high speeds with great manouverability.

it uses technology powered by electricity, very cheap energy renewable energy source in the future, to charge the ground beneath it so to create a negative magnetic force hovering it stably above ground. It's also useful for holding the limbs together on the walker tank, meaning they break apart with ease and the tranformation from tank to car is quick.

i am planning to design the cockpit and a driver, fully equipped in his futuristic driving gear. i feel ambitious

i'd be interested in animating it as well, to see how realisticly i can get it to move and change.

I thought of a cool name as well, i figured in the car state it looks alot like an insect I know, so i decided to called it...

Great Scott! Nice stuff here. Looks like i'm going to be coming last, but that's OK.
Crazy Ninja: glad you like the game. Cool model. Nice that you're putting the docking stuff in there too and thinking about how it would work in a game.
Here's my thing. Most of the polys are in the wheels. Maybe i'll make them simple cylinders instead.

I went to 4 wheels to save on polys a bit. I was initially inspired by the Spectrum Pursuit Vehicle- hence no windows and the intakes on the roof. It is now looking a bit like a quad from Dune 2. Think i'll try and make it a bit more like that. Going to actually do a texture for this, although none of my other game things have textures (yet).

You may enter whenever you'd like. Models do not have to be textured, although it may help when it comes voting time.
