Have you ever wanted to be able to shoot a door lock to unlock it, but could never do it? Acually, it's been possible, since v1 at least!

Here's how-

Take an object about the size of the area you want to shoot, I used the scifi "torch" item. Place this item at the height of the door lock, and move it into the lock so it sticks out a little past the knob (so you can still shoot it despite box collision).

Give it this script:
. Set the door name as the "ifused" property of the object.

Give the door this script

It's simply a modified stock script, I don't even know which one, thank you FPI Editor. So it displays press enter to use rather than that key one

Make sure to have the object set as immoble, and isn't invincible... I just set the health to 1000, it works.

Have fun!

btw add slashes

Can you make it so that when you shoot the lock the door just opens, not needing you to walk up and press enter?

Nice work. I might even try to make a rusty old iron lock for this script.

meteorite nice job, i was playing also with this, but i know nothing about scripting and found another way.

1, give the door the DOORREMOTE script.

2, give the entity the SWITCH script.
and the DESTROYANDACTIVATE.

3, destroy the entity and the door will open. but in this case
the door stays open.

Clever, makes me happy I released my thoughts first. Holy 3 month bumps, batman!

If you did it in notepad, save as type drop down should be "all files", or it will save as script.fpi.txt, and just be read as txt, not fpi

I'm suprised this thread only has 16 replies, I think it's a really good concept. Great work, meteorite. I've modeled a rusty padlock entity that players can use with your script. The download is attached to this post. Hopefully this will resurrect your thread.

Me too, I seem to have missed this the first time around.

Thanks meteorite for the cool script and Kravenwolf for the nice model to go with it

...this was already a great concept and script.

With Kravenwolf's model added to the mix, it just became fantastic!
