Because use conditions of MP3 were severe, Ogg decided to be used.

My method is here.

What method do you know?

COOL!

I snagged it for later use. Thanks.

The link on your page pointing to the DLL source page leads to some interesting stuff!

Is the vox dll free to use in commercial products or is another hefty licence fee like bass etc needed ?

I presume, as it just plays OGG files (and nothing else), it would be free.

Why not make it into a plug-in though ?

Glad you like the site.

No, the only person who would be able to convert the DLL into a plug-in is the author...

This DLL is done completely for no-charge according to the author's comment because it becomes free use and a free distribution.

However, it is that advertise author's HP with README etc.

Even if 5000 sales numbers exceed it by this, it is safe.

I'll check...

Yes, it can do - unfortunately (for you), I was being a bit too clever, and stopping multiple tunes playing.

If your not using P5B3 (and you want this sorted), let me know.

FMOD can play more than 1 at a time too...

oh yesyesyes, it's essential for me to have a multiple ogg playback; you see, in my current project i use lots of hi-quality samples that occupy ~50MB (for now, there will be more) so naturally i thought of compressing them. adpcm isn't supported, mp3 is unattractive because of high fees - & that leaves ogg. i'm using patch 4.0 for several reasons & i was looking for the way to handle .ogg files in a manner similar to 'play sound' command. so, if you'd be so kind & fix me up...

The Latest version of DLL is here.
http://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dl/win95/prog/se246017.html

It is correction of there being no copyright display of OggVorvis.

When the version of a functional addition was developed from the author, there was connection to me.

Please let me know the function which you need. I tell the author it.
I already told the functional addition which get play time.

MrTAToad - THANKS! I just checked the mail, did a quick test & it works it works it works (unsurprisingly)! now, in (0,"blah.ogg",0,0,4)the last flag sets stream_autofree on, right?

edit:

i'll get me coat.

...

i should have gotten me hands on the bass docs earlier... so, autofree is actually 0x40000 = 262144; ok. BUT - is there any way of stopping/freeing the single stream manually without stopping the whole bass? i assume the whole plugin was written to manage a single stream like some background music & let dbp handle the sfx, as there were no whackos like me who'd use plethora of 44/16/stereo samples before & would need the compression so badly... oh well, the issue isn't of such great importance to me, as the autofree flag usually is enough & if it isn't i use the flush bit to play the same sound again. i just thought i bring it up as a tester. the best thing is i incorporated it into my project & it works (with minor performance hit, but that was to expect) & for this many thanks, good sir.

edit 2: oryaaaa-san, i'm sorry for hijacking the thread. won't happen again.

It understood. I thought that usage was difficult for the DLL.

morfeus - I'll have to look into freeing a single sample - originally I designed the interface to only play one tune you see, so I've probably left something in that shouldn't be there...

Oryaaa - yes, the DLL is somewhat hard - thats why I suggested converting to a plug-in.

It appears that BASS (dont know about FMOD) will stop all music. You could always pause a tune - but for that you would need to buy the BASS Full Version.
