This thread is for anyone interested in Josh Mooney's "100 Models in 100 Days", but wants them for use in FPS Creator.

Here is the original thread by Josh Mooney: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&b=3&t=151473&p=1

From the other thread:

Quote: "I mean, could you walk up to one, press enter to enter, and have your player disapear, you taking control of the vehicle, and when you exit, you respawn where the vehicle is?"

...nope.

The spawning and teleporting portions of the illusion might be passable, but taking control of the vehicle in a convincing fashion isn't possible at this time.

Vehicles have been attempted on numerous occasions (I've even toyed with it myself), but collisions always become a roadblock.

It's even been tried to make a HUD for the vehicle. The hardcoded crouching and mouselook quickly ruin this attempt at the illusion...

Doesn't Ply's mod imitate vehicle driving with that 3rd-person camera stuff?

@java

The last download you posted in that other thread works fine for me. Might be your graphics card or your FPSC settings that aren't allowing the shaders.

Here's a screenshot for this thread:

Thanks for the information, I am just going to do it without the shaders, because the files that come with FPS Creator don't have any. I might do that after I finish, but this is how i'll leave it for now.

Actually, it ONLY showed the normal mapping image, not the color texture.

Are you planning to make a single pack of them? Because then it would be much easier to download them. xD

My username is finnish, and it translated to english is: "CrazyIdiot" or something.

I encountered the same problem in my attempts to make a vehicle.

Failing at every guitar game ever made!

Once they are all done, I will make a single pack, so you can wait until then if you would like. Thanks for asking. I will also divide them into smaller, similarly themed packs for those who are working on a game and only want entities of a certain theme.

On the topic of vehicles, could, for one level, you spawn as a vehicle in 3rd person view, and spawn in the next level as a person in 1st person?

I am trying to make the old book an item that you can pick up. It works just fine, but the book sinks halfway into whatever it is sitting on, whether it is the ground, or another entity.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

You could fiddle with the "defaultheight" parameter.

I suppose it's worth a try. The book could be useful, like you need it to open a door, and in the storyline, it could have a spell you use, or something.

...perhaps. I haven't been keeping tabs on the retail version of Ply's Mod. Maybe he has provided support for this.

To my knowledge nothing exists that allows for this type of vehicular control...

Oh, about the Ply's mod, i'm trying to do it without that, because then you can't sell the game commercially, I think, plus you would have to have the mod to be able to use the entity. I don't think it's practical, even if it IS possible to attach a whole mod to an entity!

Umm... You CAN sell games made with ply's mod. And you do not need the mod to play, once you compile the game, you can play it on any computer just like any fpsc game. You don't require the mod to play, I don't know where you got that idea from.

No, I mean I want to distribute a model that is drivable, but the user of FPS Creator would need the mod to use the entity in their game.

Josh included normal mapping, and we got it working in FPS Creator, but not all video cards support them, as well as FPS Creator's included entites don't use them. You can put one on yourself in FPS Creator, it's really not that hard!

Ok, obvious problem here, does anyone know how to apply more than one texture on something? Each piece had it's own texture, but I only applied the board's texture.

If you leave the "textured=" field blank in the .fpe of the entity, the entity will be textured with the texture(s) specified in the .x file.

Because of computer difficulties, production has stopped. If someone wants to take over, i'd be glad of it.
