I started these tutorials on July 20, 2009. I have taught a great deal in the tutorials, but I am far from putting everything into these tutorials. I have yet to learn everything about this program myself. The main reason for these tutorials is to dumb down the learning curve a bit by getting straight to the point. I will continue on learning Blender myself and I will continue to make tutorials when ever I get some quiet free time.

Sounds pretty good to me. I'll check out your videos once you've put up the second UV mapping tut, that's the only thing in Blender that gives me trouble.

I am uploading pt 2 of UV mapping in blender as I speak. It takes a while to prepare the videos and uploading. I have been skimming the 10 minute length limit quite a bit with the UV mapping parts. I will also hopefully have the Blender to FPSC tutorial done by this evening.

I think I'm getting how it works now (though I prefer another method of unwrapping) but is there a bucket tool in the blender image editor?

That was solved without me even trying. Life can be good sometimes.

Just to let everyone know, that is the way I model and uv map, you do not have to follow me exactly. At least I know that if anyone asks for a modeling program, I can say Blender here and tutorials here.

Thanks for the tut's X. I think I'll wait for the new version. The interface is just too.... archaic. 2.5 has a brand new, fully customizable layout and tool set. Perhaps if I had learned it before others, but after using Anim8or and MilkShape, it's just too difficult to use.

I looked at the new 2.5 interface and to me it looked like it was heading towards a common modeling program interface look, but as long as they make an upgrade to the Direct X exporter and keep the hot keys I will be good.

1. select all the objects that you are using
2. go into UV/Image editor
3. make sure that the objects have images
4. click on Consolidate into one image in the image menu
5. change the name from //(name of file)_grp to something easy to remember like //texmulti
6. click the All selected objects located at the bottom of the options.
7. Click OK and you are done.

I tried that, but it says "only 1 image found," I have three objects and I gave them each different images for the UV map, so I don't know why it's saying there's only 1 image

That is strange, I just did it on the models for the Apple Juice Mod Video Clip.gif image...

are you using the same image for all three?

Usually when it says that only one image is found, it means that the current active object has only one image and there for you need to press All Sel Objects to have it use more than 1 object.

Attached is a pic of Blender with Three circles:

Red Circle - the objects
Yellow Circle - The Image Consolidate control
light Blue Circle - The All Sel Objects button

I am sorry If I am pushing in the wrong direction.

Ah.. well that helps me with the final texturing, but proves I'll have to UV map each object individually, thanks GX, you're probably the only person I know of on these boards willing to help people with Blender

You are welcome

I forgot to mention that there was a 2nd method, but it will not work if the objects are animated. What it does is fuse all the objects together and keeps the animation of the active object.

Here is how it is done:

1. select all the objects you are using
2. Press ctrl + J and click on the pop-up (this will make the objects just one object)
3. basic tutorial consolidate textures.

Neat, I might be able to use that for other projects, and maybe for a couple pieces of what I'm doing now, but it's going to have a little animation to it. Thanks again.

(http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=156291&b=3 that's what I've been working on btw)

Eh, I think I'm alright with the model so far, even though I still don't know most of the tricks in Blender I'm just having trouble texturing, I barely started and my eyes already hurt XD Thanks for the offer though, I could send you the .blend file if you want it.

I know the feeling

If you want to you can. If you do send it to me, I can probably get the UV maps to go together and probably use a few tricks too.

Great tutorials man but I've hit a problem while following the basic modelling one. When I select the faces and extrude to make the box lid only two of them extrude. So instead of extruding in a square shape it extrudes in a diamond shape. I've followed your video to the letter and retried with a whole new square 3 times with the same results. Any help?

Found the the problem, :

1. when you extrude, just left click immediately after selecting extrude region.
2. then press S to size it.

Sounds awesome! I'm going to post pics of my first model ever!! Check it out in the 3d Modelling board. Your tutorials are nice because they're not overly long and they cut straight to what you need instead of having you memorize every single keyboard shortcut before moving on. They're also nice and simple, the perfect place to start! Thanks again.

Just wondering, gamer x, have you made a game in blender yet? I am making one now just for fun. And I have to say programming aside, it is surprising easy. Well, just a thought. Tutorial looks good and we always need new and different ways of making a good fps game.

every once and a while I think about, but I haven't messed with it. I also think about making movies in it and some other things. Besides FPSC and Blender, I have VB, C++, C#, and flash that I can make games in and hopefully soon Dark Basic Pro.
