Radiate

Story: Back in chernobyl, ukraine, you were a powerpoint worker who was just leaving when... It happened.no one was told until 2 days after the accident and everyone was made to evacuate immediately. you were told only to pack one bag, you were going to return in 3 days or less.

you grab you're wife, daughter, and son, now 16 and run to your car. people were scrambling in the streets, trying to evacuate. gas masked soldiers forced everyone out. only you knew that you wouldn't be returning.

because you were a government worker, you were allowed to leave the country. you did.

when you ran to the car, had in hand with your wife and 10 year old daughter, you realised that something was wrong. you had you're bags, your suitcase, your car, and tickets to the states... what else?

your son.

he was impossible to spot in the crowds. the gas masked soldiers were closing in. you had to leave him.

five years later, you had nearly gotten over that day, almost moved on. but it was all brought back to you with one scribbled note on graph paper.

it was looters, staying in chernobyl to loot houses and sell things left behind. written in russian, it said that your son is alive and for 50000 american dollars, delivered to apartment T2 on rode avenue, chernobyl, ukraine; he'd be on a plane to the states. no questions asked.

it was the happiest moment of your life... one problem, however: you didn't have 50000 american dollars. IKt would have all came crashing down if the cruel, heartless men hadn't made 1 mistake...

giving you their address.

Screens 2 and 3 could need some more entities in my view.
On the second screen, the wall segments don't seem to fit well vertically.

Aside from that, it looks like a very good start, keep it up

Well I dont go around telling you when and when not to take off your gloves, do I? lol no. jk. the hands have been retextured again. they are different now. the fingers are longer.

having trouble with large numbers of enemies in level 2. 10
(9, and your son)

they spawn before entering the trigger zone, then, after the hallway in the screenie, they dont do anything, they just stand there.

Huh, your son would be dead, 5 years exposed to radiation especially with the actual spread of the radiation which went all across europe and actually affected the UK aswell, so I doubt the son surviving in the Radioactive hotspot. Also the fact that the looters somehow knew where the father lives is a mystery to me, and that it was able to be sent from a place where the Mail Service would probably avoid due to radiation. Also the fact that the 16 year old son couldn't stay with the father despite probably being much stronger to navigate through the crowds unlike the 10 year old daughter.

But so far the screenshots look good, but its shame about some unthought out parts of the story.

I agree with Deathead. The story needs filling out a bit more.

I like the concept though, even though it isn't the most original. Is your inspiration STALKER? I like games about Chernobyl which capture the mysterious side of the area, is the story going to evolve into something much bigger then the original plot?

Also, kidnappers would never use their actual address, more an abandoned motel where they would go and meet you, or maybe even go after you leave to pick up the cash...

How did you bring the guns with you as well? Flying from America to Ukraine with a case full of M16s isn't gonna happen...

Other than that, the screens look great!

If I was ever given the opportunity to remove all the bad from the world, I wouldn't, because for there to be heroism, compassion and all that is good, there must also be all that is bad.

you pick them up

your whole family had built up an immunity to the radiation for living near it for so long.

your son was actually grabbed by the looters.

1) no, I've never played stalker
2) perhaps in the expansions.

level 3 screenie

theres actually a story to this one, you see, level 3 is you and your son backtracking through level 2 for a little while, until your son says he knows a way out (rocks blocked you going out the entrance)

blast through a wall into the subway.

Contradiction there

I don't think radiation works quite like that

If you live in a radioactive zone then you don't build up immunity, you become ill. If what you are saying was the case, why would people need to evacuate? There would be no danger...

BUMP. new info
impload.webs.com for forums and photos and discussions

INFO: if you pre order the game, (just say that you will purchase it) and actually purchase it like you said, the multiplayer expansion is free. (not 5 dollars)

as for the immunity thing- tough to explain: YOU are special, YOU built up a slight immunity to pain (hence hud will be removed) and are USED to the radiation (you are constantly ill, but just used to it)

YOUR SON- is related to you, therefore has the same radiation sickness tolerance.

thats it

you dont have a RESISTANCE, you have a tolerance
