I have a problem...

Even when running in Administrator mode, the free version of DBpro still doesn't work. I click on the icon, and nothing happens except my processor starts to work extra hard (it constantly is at 100% when I try to run DBPro free, and the only other programs I'm running are FireFox and Yahoo Instant Messenger). My system specs are:

Any solutions and clues as to why it's taking up my CPU usage?

C#? Yes, please!

Thanks, zombee81!

However, upon my inspection of my program directory, specifically the Editor folder, I found "EditorU73.exe", tried running it and it worked completely. I'm activated and everything. What is this exe and should I be using it?

Hi Wiian

Oops! Sorry, yea, rename the NewEditor.exe to tempEditor.exe (or something like that), then rename the EditorU73.exe to NewEditor.exe, it'll then work fine and you can then register it.

@Daniel TGC: There seems to be DarkNET missing from your list. How is compatibility for that?

Thanks!

Extends' XGUI and XFont do not seem to work with both Windows 7 and Vista, I experience a "silent crash". (even with the example provided)

I second what Hockykid said. Tested and confirmed.

The fix is to run it in WIN 95 compatibility mode, but thats almost not even a fix, because who wants to add instructions with their program that people have to run it in windows 95 compatibility mode?

I tested DB pro version 7.4 on windows 7 home premium with no problem. Installed version DirectX 11
computer ACER
Core processor duo T6600 2,2 Ghz
Work Mem 4 Gb
Mem card 1024 Mb (more expandable shared)
GFX card is: Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT CUDA
Windows prestige index 6.4

Its a Gamer laptop. with a 16:10 screen.
All demo's who are with the package works.
I did have a couple of programs who are testing for DirectX versions. But they all fail to work. The reply from them is that i have version 0.
Is there a good way in DBP for detecting the right DirectX version.

Mine works fine so try installing the directx10 from the fps creator x10 disk because you can install dx10 alongisde dx11

I just upgraded my computer to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit. When I try to compile and run my program I get a message saying that d3dx9_31.dll is missing. Any ideas?

@TheDubDude:
d3dx9_31.dll missing means you don't have the correct version of DirectX 9.0c installed.

Download and install it to solve the problem.

I have DirectX 11.0 on my system. Why would I need to install DirectX 9.0?

DirectX 10 and above aren't backwards compatible with 9.0 and lower, but you can have them both installed.

OK but isn't this going to be a problem for DarkBasic Pro going forward. Shouldn't it work with a "standard" Windows 7 installation?

Just as a note a new version of eXtends was uploaded around 2 weeks ago that was suppose to fix the windows 7 crashes but it doesn't. :/

I don't see installing DX9 as a problem as it still needs to be installed for most games anyway. But I would like to see DBPro take advantage of DX10/11.

Really hope eXtends gets sorted out, as I was hoping to use the bitmaps font and possibly GUI features in my Text RPG.

If Windows 7 came with DX9 Pre installed yes, sadly however it doesnt, and even worse at some point last year MS broke backwards compatability with the DX SDKs too with some minor changes to some headers. Supplying the DirectX Web installer with your application shouldnt be an issue however, its only about 500k and will only update the components that the PC needs.

Frankly, i think MS update should include this as standard, i'm pretty sure it wouldnt fill up the HDD :p

I'm planning the distribution of some programs using audio and video,
Starting from Windows 2000 to the actual versions, Where can I found an Implementation Check List to include the basic dlls, or what would be needed to install in each version of Windows ?

Go!
