Hey groovy guys and gals, this is my newest GUI for FPS Creator... Alfresco. I thought about calling it "Treeze" but I was beginning to see a pattern developing.

Alfresco (out-of-doors; in the open air) easily and quickly creates trees, shrubs, tall grass, and more for your FPS Creator levels. The included textures and models are enough to make a wide variety of greenery in any sizes you choose. Simply add new textures to the resource folder to create even more varieties.

All Downloads are now HERE

For those who don't or can't download exe's, it should show up on FPS-Media shortly in zip version. Thanks Mike and Cathy for hosting and testing.
*Testers may want to download again. There were some tweaks and new content added. Thanks for all the help.

NOTES:

TESTING:
This program was built on a Windows 7 64bit platform and had no issues at the time it was built. It has been further tested on Windows XP and Windows Vista. That said, there may still be issues on some systems with configurations which differ from the test systems.

REQUIREMENTS:
1. FPS Creator is of course required or the program will create trees and shrubs in space. Pretty, but not useful.
2. .Net4. Most of you already have this but some may need to run Windows updates or update .Net in particular.

Please read the help file and if you have any issues, let me know here.
As always, thanks for your support.
Brian.

Already? You devote so much effort into making free apps for FPSC it makes me feel guilty But please, don't stop!

As always, awesome work! I've been looking for something to make plants with for some time now, and Plant Life just doesn't cut it for me (export from Plant Life... Import to FPSC... Correct settings... start next plant).

THANK YOU. Now why don't you have a break and go get some Alfresco

C++ is labourless... if your name starts with 'L' and ends with 'ee'.

Everything works. It automatically found my FPSC directory and when I did a test run, it placed it correctly. In the Alfresco subfolder of entitybank.

However, when I clicked on options and then clicked on FPSC Directory I got the following error result:

I have Windows 7 x64

Clicking continue ignores everything and goes back to the main window.

Other than that, it's been working great. No problems so far.

Thanks all for the comments.

@FLATLANDER
Thanks for the info. I finally figured out what is causing that. I used what I thought was a normal black line - like in VB6 - on the FPSC Directory form to separate two items. Apparently, it's not a normal black line, but comes from a "Power Pack". Who knew? Anyway I won't be using that line again.

For those who do have this issue and need to change your FPSC Directory:
1. Locate the "config.txt" file in your Alfresco directory.
2. Open the file in notepad and remove the path. (first and only line)
3. Save the empty file and restart Alfresco.
Alternatively, you can just replace the current path in "config.txt" with the one you want and you won't be asked to locate it when you restart.

I will remove the line when I get home tonight and post a new copy for download.

Okay, so I see from the screenshot that you totally ignored my advice. (fine then I see how you are)

So, this is free?

Well, in that case I can forgive you, I guess.

Thanks

LOL. I'm a lazy coder. Long story short, moving the texture button would have meant moving the scale tool again (parts of which are bound to the edges of the form to keep relative position) and I didn't want to re figure all the variable there.

LOL
I thought I was the laziest coder.
Wait a minute, I still am, because you programmed this before I ever got around to it.
I have to agree with the first thing your program says.... File Options Help
It seems a lot of programmers think so too, because I see this all the time.

Seriously though, this will probably be one of the most used utilities for FPSC, second only to the Entity Maker.
I hope you remembered to ask KeithC to add this to the tool list.

Well done xplosys, and thanks again.

Hello, first of, thank you XPlosys for this amazing program/plugin !

But I've got a problem about the transparency, I don't know how to explain this, so I attach a picture.

I've tried to set the transparency type on 2 in their .FPE, nothing happened, I'm running with shaders enabled and full lightmapping, please help me !

Please apologize my bad english, I'm French.

Actually, I personally don't see anything wrong with that billboard. What a great arrangement. I give it a wolf whistle.

It looks than the trees and bushes textures looks 'truncated'.

(See attached)

EDIT:
Fixed, I've set the transparency flag on 1

Very useful program. I was wondering, if I was working on a model pack, would I be able to use this program to create some foliage? Using my own textures of course.

Thanks Pain.

darmic, yes. The only restriction would be distributing or posting the included textures "as textures" as that would break the Creative Commons agreement for those textures.

Wow Seth. I'm not trying to cause a stir, but you do that way too often. (Laughs to self)

Anyways, as for the tool, it looks really great Xplosys! I could see this being useful to make background scenery
that the player can't reach but honestly, maybe not exactly for up close stuff. Still, this is a great tool
and I know that a lot of use can be made from it if put into the right hands!

Just give me a hint. I won't make it, honest!

There's a list of things I'd like to do, and if I can find a decent way to make Visual Basic work with .dds files, I'll give them a go. As it is, VB just doesn't work that well for graphics.

It's actually pretty good for graphics if you use the right stuff in VB.Net, maths is useful for it as well as you can manipulative the standard VB.Net graphics stuff with a bit of maths

If you have anything for .dds or .x viewing in .net or 2010 I'd appreciate the code/help. When I said "doesn't work well for graphics" I was referring to coding for FPSC in particular.

You can use FreeImage with the FreeImage Public Licence (FIPL) for your projects. Then you can use DDS, TARGA and other image formats.

FreeImage worked in VB6 but I had issues with some DDS files, probably due to Alpha variations. To my knowledge, and from what I just read, it isn't supported in VB2010. I may play with it again anyway to see if I can get something to work. Still, being able to view-only DDS images is just a small part of what I would need to create any kind of mesh/model program with VB. I've tried to use command line options with Microsoft DIrectX Viewer but it doesn't display many of the stock meshes in FPSC anyway. I have not been able to find any code for viewing meshes that was usable. Anyway, I'm always looking for something new to try. Thanks for the tip.
