Hi,

Just thought I'd create a post for my FPSC mod ideas. It's not going to be a huge mod, just one for me to build my coding skills on and to try out any features I can think of.

All other mods are free to incorporate these ideas. some credit would be nice, but not essential.

A compiled FPSC-GAME.exe, some example scripts and a UM i contained within the download link.

The following features are available (the individual likes explain the code):

GRAVITY SWITCH
This feature enables the gravity to be switched on an d off for an entity. One FPI condition and one FPI action is added.

SCROLL COMPASS
The code adds a scroll compass HUD. The scoll compass is a flat, horizontally scolling direction indicator. The scroll compass HUD is defined using standard HUD actions with "hudmake=scrollcompass" setting the HUD up to dynamically update as the player moves. This code adds one FPI action.

SPAWN CONTROLS
This code provides additional control to spawn entities. One FPI condition and three FPI actions are added by this code.

TRACTOR BEAM
The tractor beam acts similar to the 'force pull/push' as seen in the star wars universe allowing the player or another entity to drag objects towards them from far away. The force applied to the objects reduces with distance making distant objects more difficult to push/pull - the strength of the tractor beam is adjustable in real-time via script actions. This code adds six FPI actions.

HUD FADEOUT DIRECTION
This code enables the developer to change the direction in which HUDs fade out. Stock FPSC always fades HUDs out whilst moving them up, this code lets you move the HUD down, left, right, or not move at all whilst fading out.

Great ideas! I think with your vast knowledge of commands that this mod should be great!

One idea though. Would making entities be able to jump work?

Beastmode, jumping entities should be possibile. I can't get the tractor beam to work at the moment, but when I get that done I'll have a go at jumping entities. I'll take you up on the testing

Wrath, the gravity commands were directly influenced by physix. I was trying to replicate some of the physixs things using stock FPSC, but I soon figured it was impossible without a mod. So I thought I'd have a go at doing it.

You'll know that WASPv2 contains a very basic gravity gun, if you'd like a little help adding a tractor beam to your mod, I'm willing to help point you in the right direction.

Cheers for the help Scene Commander, I like the WASP implementation, I just wanted something that wasn't linked to a gun. I'd like to try and figure it out myself first, but if I get stuck I'll send you a mail.

3rd person is possible - i think i've seen a video of it being done using project blue. that kind of thing is way beyond a mere mortal such as myself.

One thing i would realy like would be aditional cameras that you can swap to and maybe attatch to a entity

I think dual weapons would rock. Also, I don't know if this is in the stock version but I think shooting Decals like in PG and PB would rock!

Hi Beastmode and Zoq,

I do like these features you've suggested, but they are already available in the Project Blue mod. While I agree that it would be great if I could code these features I would feel like I'm treading on Project Blue's toes. So unfortunately I won't be attempting them. I hope you understand.

I understand, but, just a not, lots of mods can do thing others can... Well for a unique idea I can only think of... Split screen(with online as an option), Dark A.I. commands without actually being controlled by the Dark A.I., and I'll let you know when I think of some more.

This is just short note to say that I've added a Scroll Compass to my mod. A scroll compass is a horiztonally scrolling direction indicator as shown in the picture below.



At the moment you cannot add markers to it, but that is something I want to add in the future.

The Scroll Compass is defined using standard HUD commands as shown in the code below.



The only additional command is "hudviewangle=x" which defines how 'wide' the scroll compass is in degrees (i.e. hudviewangle=180 sets the HUD up to show the compass 90 degrees left and right of where the player is pointing.)

I have some ideas but I asked them before in a Mail to Scene Commander for WASP but I will tell you again.
Firs,We have a plrfreeze command which will prevent the player to move for a time.
1.There should be a plrfreezenorotate which will preventing player to not move and even not rotate.
2.Another command for preventing rotate horizontally.
3.Another for preventing rotate vertically.
All these 3 are come with plrfreeze but you can make them without plrfreeze command.
So I told you 6 ideas but it's about you if you want add how many of these.

I have a really great idea for camera control but it can be so hard and I will tell you after I saw some working on cameras.It's better to ask in the future so don't want me that idea right now.

plrfreezenorotate = plrdisable
syntax: plrdisable=x
prevents the player from moving for x milliseconds

Plrdisable is not equal to what I want.
Plrdisable will disable everything except changing weapon and zooming by right click but after zooming you can't get out of zoom and it has a bug.(I will report it now)
Plrdisable won't let the player to shoot and reload.
so they are different.

yes but if the player is immoble, how can he shoot if he can't aim? btw, sorry, i did not understand what you mean
