Welcome to the My Little Pony thread for TGC. You may be wondering why this predominantly adult male forum even has such a thing. In which case, you've probably been living under a rock in internet terms.

Suffice to say, the people here all agree the My Little Pony you watched in the 80s to 00s was terrible. Absolute horrific rubbish. What we like to watch, is the new Friendship is Magic series. Made by Studio B, and Lauren Faust, (creator of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.) This...is alot better than the Intellectual Property it's based on deserves.

Here are the first two episodes for the pilot. These aren't the series' strongest episodes, but do introduce characters and settings in the best way. Yes, oh lords it's true, My Little Pony actually has tangible characters now. Ohh, a flying pig!

Enjoy, and feel free to post comments on how gay we are here. I'll happily report you for your troubles:

Don't, I'm a lost cause anyways.

But in all seriousness, at least give it a look. I was skeptical too.

I, just, no...

No matter how mature it is, it's just the ascetic that annoys me...

I mean, if they make jokes that teens/adults would find funny, it's still pink pony's?

I just find that wrong. Couldn't you be doing something more productive?

I'm not going to judge you though, or what seems to be half of the internet now...

Is that a screenshot from deviant art?

Ya know, if just one more person had voted for me as president, I would be banning the color pink right about now!

@Almix

I ran out of productive things that can be done on a Netbook. Kinda limited by the 1Ghz processor really.

@Phaelax

Yeh it's from DeviantArt, and I never voted. Anyways I imagine Jerico will be along to ridicule this thread, and this small experiment will crash and burn.

Maybe it's just nostalgia. I like animation but alot of modern animation...in fact modern media is just so...cynical. Everything is an apocalypse in a hundred differet ways, but roll back to media in 90s/early 00s, everything was so optimistic about the future.

Maybe I'm just tired of having Hollywood dictate global warming and the environment to me while driving Prius' that actually cause more damage than a 4x4. Maybe I'm just happy to finally find a diamond in the pessimistic rough.

It's a tad overkill to have them as your avatar independent of the quality of the show, but its a brave and applaudable attitude of the creator without doubt.

I haven't watched it yet but it's still weird no matter how good the show is. It's about pink ponies. Oh and that signature image kinda weirds me out too, but I've just remembered I have AdBlock installed.

Well...I gave it a look. Seriously... as open minded as I approached Dr.house once. And the answer is: Nooooo!

Yeh true. I also forgot I had that sig...I spent four months with an advert to the TGC banner comp, simply don't read my posts after posting them.

And yeh, it's about pink ponies. That's the interesting part of the experiment.

/Edit/

I also end up skipping the intro anyways. I like the show, but I still have my limits. Also don't really like the first two episodes I posted either. Kinda silly, but you can't watch a series without knowing the characters I can guess.

Oh come on you're all a bunch of wusses, there's absolutely nothing wrong with liking pink...and ponies, your masculinity is safe!

I enjoyed the Powerpuff Girls, regardless of how girly it was, it was actually brilliant. I think guys are just too scared of giving up their manhood, well, I'm not scared. If it's the same people, there's the potential to interest me.

And for the record, there's so little kids TV these days that entertain me, I know I'm a fully grown adult, but come on, kids' TV was always made to entertain both the kid and the parents. On the brightside, Spongebob is still going, though it has been going downhill IMO.

[Edit]

I don't like watching any cartoons, aside from South Park, so I'd definitely say no.

I'll admit, I liked powerpuff girls also. But this ponies cartoon, I tried to watch but can't. It's terrible. I don't like the artwork either, it looks lazy.

I also love South Park, got about 5 seasons at home, watched them to death though.

@TheComet

I agree, but the background is needed from 1 and 2, hence why alot of people get put off.

@Seppuku

One of my favourite sayings about this is "Any guy can feel manly watching a Jason Statham movie, only a real man can feel manly watching pink ponies."

@Lazerus

Everyone is apparently.

I enjoyed the powerpuff girls when I was a kid but I wouldn't call it brilliant then, and not now either

I may check this out though when the kids get a little older.

The DevianTart screen definitely does not give you the weight you think it does though

I'm most flamboyant, feminine, pink man you will ever have the misfortune to meet, and yet even my disgust glands are tingling while trying to watch it. I'm sorry, but it tastes a bit too much like diabetes.

You did?!

I still feel slightly squeamish at the end bit. It's just a bit too happiness and rainbows for me.

You may love episode 11 then.

! I'm 100% straight and I have no problem admitting I enjoy My Little Pony (4th gen) to everyone here.

I'm holding off advertising this fact on my Facebook yet as these are socially fragile times for me.

It is an entertaining show. Well done, and not super over the top with the cutesiness.

However, it's stupid to be obsessed over.

I used to like Family Guy, now since it's gotten popular it's gotten crappier in quality. Too busy trying to get cheap laughs.

I just now realized I've had a typo in my signature for the past 3 years.

That's why everyone watches this - because it's basically nothing like the old 1. - Sure it's got ponies in it but it's practically DragonballZ revamped - the main character even goes super saiyan in episode 6... xD

I wouldn't dream of watching the original MLP but this one's quite awesome.

I'm watching it with headphones and the curtains drawn!

I got about 2/3 of the way through and turned it off. It's just like every other rubbish modern cartoon with boring characters doing boring things. When do the giant robots start firing lasers at each other?
I like the fact they weren't afraid to use long words though. Learning new things is effortless when it's put into a fun context.

I'm not obsessed *twitch* *ponies*

And Bergice. This is as close to the original MLP as Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight is to Adam West's batman movies.

Old is camp and cheesy, new is a bit more streamlined, slightly stylised, and better thought out.
