I finish writing a program for editing FPSC characters animations. You can load character (DirectX or DBO format), edit the rotation and position of limbs and save as DirectX or DBO. You can also add frames and create your own animations. I think that I'll write it in a few days. Is anyone interested in testing it?

It would be nice to se how well it imports and exports the files.
as this has been my main gripe with characters,

I would love to try this software, as i strugle to do anims and i would see how some one like me Hopeless at anims would benifit from trying and see if i can do it!

Thank you all for your responses. So, it was hard and long work (2 years). But I think that this program is very necessary for game developers. I wrote it in DBPro using many plugins. In a few days, you can download a trial version - it is the full version you can run 5 times. I have yet to write for you a short help.

Now you can download Animer - character animations editor.
Installer will try to install Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - if you already have it, just press Cancel.
Have fun and report bugs please!

In that case maybe I can help

I am running a free community service soon and keeping my eyes out for likely early takers so that I at least have some portfolio and testimonials as there is no made up stuff for this project.

I have some data online regarding it but keep an eye on my banner... I should have updated it already but I had a bit of an issue lately.. (a silly retail hard drive broke on me) so yeah once I get my template back... (the hard drive in intact). I can update to inform people of it and I hope the project takes off. just ask me for the link... I do not want to post it right now as its still W.I.P. and I need to make an app for it first (for the online storage aspects)
But yeah would love to be involved with helping you have a solid foundation for your app

Now back on topic

which formats are supported?
And any progress on a tutorial... will hopefully manage to download this later today.

Looks promising. I tried to give it a test but unfortunately every time I click the exe to run it, it tells me Dark Basic Pro Project has stopped working, and then it closes down.

Programs written in DBPro need to run DirectX 9.0c.
If you have DirectX 10 or 11 you can try this:
copy "d3dx9_31.dll" and "d3dx9_35.dll" to your "Windows\System32" folder, these files are attached to message.
If not work - you must install DirectX 9.0c:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=2DA43D38-DB71-4C1B-BC6A-9B6652CD92A3&displaylang=en
DirectX 9 does not replace DirectX 10 or 11, but sits along side it.

What this needs is full mouse controlls, meaning like in 3ds max,you can zoom in with the mouse wheel, you can pan the camera with just clicking the left mouse button and moving the mouse over to the left or right.

Its almost impossible to controol the camera making it real hard to animate,I tryed animating some limbs with no sucsess.

1.better and easer controll
2.intructions on how to animate the linbs

This is a great tool and when its easer I am going to use it,AM USING THIS,I CAN LOAD IN ANY .X FILES AND EDIT THE ANIMATIONS,NOT EVEN 3DS MAX CAN LOAD IN .X FILES WITH FULL ANIMATIONS TO EDIT NORE CAN MILKSHAP.

Thank you for testing Animer, Daniel wright 2311.
You can control camera by mouse - click on the correspondent icon, for example icon with hand, if you press left mouse button and move mouse - you pan camera. Similarly you can zoom and rotate camera. Correspondent icons are on the toolbar situated under combobox "Select limb" (the first left icon is a arrow).
Write, please if it works for you.
How to animate limbs you can read in help - Menu/Help/Animer Help.
After collecting yours opinions, I will write a more detailed help.

I understand this, this was not my point my friend,In this I have to select a pan controol botton before I can pan the camera, and even when I do this it does not pan the way the mouse moves. If I move the mouse to the right to pan the camera to the right it pans up,if I pan the camera down it moves the camea right, the camera does not pan correctly at all.

In 3ds max,if you click the left mouse button, you can pan the camera any way you move the mouse, this is the way you should have it.

I was asking for a more easy mouse controll, not a explination on them.

I tested it,you need to fix the pan movement or your program will be frustrating to people.

I fixed pan movement in ANIMER. Camera was moved along the axis XYZ, and this was not the best idea. Now, camera moves on a plane parallel to the plane of the screen, it pan camera the way the mouse moves.
To all who tested the program ANIMER - please write what do you think about it, do you have any suggestions???

You can download fixed version. This is trial version - you can not export. First, unistall previous version. Now, installer does not install Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable.

ANIMER - character animations editor is now for sale at ANIMER website:
[href]www.rafhalzer.zzl.org[/href]

If you buy it, I will send you by e-mail the installer. The installer includes:
- full version ".exe" file
- detailed tutorial in ".pdf"
- license

Before running the installer, you need to have installed a trial version of ANIMER - you can download it from ANIMER website (the trial version installs all necessary files to run the program). First try to run the trial version, If you have problems, try to run it in Administator mode.
WINDOWS 7:
1. Right click on program icon.
2. Click on the compatibility tab.
3. Under Privilage Level, place a tick next to "Run this program as an Administrator".
4. Click OK.

Install the full version in the same folder as the trial version.
To read the tutorial in the full version of ANIMER, go to the program menu and select: MENU / HELP / ANIMER HELP.

All who purchase ANIMER, will have a 50% discount on my new program that I'm writing.
This is a program for editing nodes (vertices) in characters. You can rotate, move and scale the vertex groups, edit the UV and skin weights, which will help to create your own character from any FPSC character.
Created characters you can animate using the ANIMER.

Thank you, Decneo!

I'm working on the possibility of animating character's mesh.
You can add the bones, which will rotate, move and scale the selected vertices. In this way will be able to deform and animate the mesh. What do you think about it?

I fixed a bug that caused on some WINDOWS systems, an error when a user wants to export to ".x" or ".dbo" format.
ANIMER should work on WINDOWS from XP to WIN7-32.
Unfortunately, everything suggests that ANIMER will not work on WIN7-64. I don't have this system and I can't do the tests.
You can download fixed trial version of ANIMER from:

Maybe antivirus programs stop the ANIMER.
I heard that AVAST Antivirus stops the applications written in DBPro.
Need to uninstall it to run DBPro applications.

Now, version 1.1 of ANIMER is available!
I increased compatibility with 64-bit systems and Windows 7.
Now ANIMER is compatible with WIN XP, VISTA, WIN 7; 32 and 64 bit.
If you had troubles with running ANIMER 1.0 - try out a new version.
Tip: if doesn't work - run it as ADMIN.

Good news, it opens without problems.
Bad news... it completely glitches out the animations when you export them.
