Helo gang,

Well.. as the title says, a DBO importer plugin for Milkshape 3D. I got inspired by the thread in the DBP discussion board that asked for a DBO exporter for GMax, but instead I tried to make one for Milkshape 3D just for a start.

The importer only imports the Mesh and UV Texture data at the moment. I've not implemented animation yet, and frankly, I don't even know if I'll be updating the plugin. It's just alot of work from my part, since I'm also doing the TGC Compo this year. But maybe I will if I get some serious motivation coming Oh and not only that, maybe I'll be doing for other 3d modelling software as well too

[EDIT]
New Version(19th August 2004)
- Fixes the limb position and rotation.
- Requires Directx 9.0c. I wrote this plugin with that.

Download it here (160kb):

Suggestions and comments are welcome

can't you just export .x then use the .x to DBO converter?

(sorry to crash the party...)

anyway, it still looks like a good idea

Very nice! I can't try it out yet, but if it works as advertized, that's fantastic... congrats.

indeed, a .dbo exporter for Milkshape would be fantastic! I've thought about trying it myself, but I just don't have the time

Mwahaha.. sorry for the late reply, been busy lately.

@Peter_H, I think you've misread the topic. The plugin is an importer not exporter. But you should've notice that by now

@CattleRustle, yea yea.. I won't forget your request. I WILL do it if I have access to the 3ds Max SDK.. ehehe.. Can you lend it to me? Oh wait, I don't think it's legal to share the SDK for fun

@Zero Blitz & Walaber, I will also probably be doing a DBO exporter for milkshape after I get the importer to load everything in the DBO format properly. This is because it is easier to read than to write. For people who wants a DBO exporter say Hell Ya!!

@Others, any of you guys tried it? Does it work on your machine??

One known issue is that the limbs don't reposition correctly on the current version just yet. I'm working on this one now, I should be uploading a new version in a few mins.

Okay gang! I've updated the plugin. This version fixes the problem I mentioned above. Link is also above. I don't have a website yet, I'm still waiting my approval from Jimmy at DBSpot.

Doing this plugin is more fun than doing my game for the compo. Dunno why..~~ I'll be leaving town for 5 days in about 3 hours from now, and I can't browse the forum during that time. So leave me some comments/suggestions/critics/anything and make me happy when I get back But anyway..enjoy this one ok.
