Not bad for a first game.

With bloom turned on it really kills the frame rate. It goes from 60 with it off to between 25 and 45 depending on camera view.

My PC is quite old but still has an Athlon XP 2000+ and a Geforce 7600GS in it.

One thing that really annoys me about pacman games is where ghosts turn around, they should not do that, if the ghosts get to a junction they should pick any direction EXCEPT doing a 180 degree turn.

Keep up the good work.

One thing that might be of concern is the name pacman is probaly copyrighted so if you sell you might be in a bit of trouble. Not positive but id look into it if I was you anyways looks nice.

You sure about that? I thought the strategy of 1 ghost was to follow you no matter what. Another tries to cut you off, another moves around randomly, and the 4th i can't remember.

Okay, my 2 Cents:

For your first game, it is awesome. Some hints:

- Make the ghost actually hunt pacman. At the moment it feels a little easy to avoid them. You can make their decision depending on a percentage of luck/strategy. So for example if 80% of all decisions are pure random, then they might be quite easy, but still competetive. When you drop that factor to like 20%, the ghosts might turn into quite a pain in the ass That way you'd create some challenge.

- Why are the ghost pure flat, while pacman is such a nice little sphere?

- The camera can be VERY annoying. I got killed several times by going into a warp and not being able to react fast enough to some ghost coming along.

- Same applies for the fog. It sometimes hides your way so successfully, that ghosts have an easy game with you.

- The speed of the game isn't constant, sometimes it seems faster, sometimes slower.

These are just some suggestions i got the first time i played it. Nevertheless it is a really nice game. (Reminds me of a game i did in Turbo Pascal like 15 years ago... a pity i cannot find that floppy disc anymore...)

Grüzi von Wien!
Oli

I'll fix that in next version.

?????????
you said you want more challenge
Quote: "...create some challenge"

that's a challenge!

"
-> deactivate the bloom, needs a good PC (on my computer, it runs at the same speed everytime)

EDIT:
do have any other ideas for next version???

Some of the levels feel pretty unbalanced. Worst example: in one level i was starting between two ghost moving straight at me from the only two possible directions to go... can't say which level it was though, i was game over before i really knew what was going on...

What do you think of these little acts in between games at the original pacman? Little funny animations with no special sense to them at all... i loved those!

Not much else i could think of atm...

I got ur number... i got ALL your numbers!!!

Cool, I remember seeing you around on the GMC a little bit! Also, how exactly did you make the box art? Is there a program or what, because I remember seeing a program once which could do it, but I never found it again!

Anyway, cool game, especially for your first!

Thank you!
It's my first with DBPro (I made a lot of games before with the Gamemaker 6.1). I didn't use a special program, only photoshop.
should I show you how?

Looks cool! Maybe try using an A* algorithm to make the ghosts follow the player. Just a suggestion.

this looks really cool, im not a DB user myself (FPSC XD) but i sometimes look on here for cool stuff. I think this game looks great but i do think it would be a shame for the copyright thing to get in the the way . Also did you pay for the game to be PC-CD rom endorsed? because if not you can get sued if its on your box, as well as the age ratings etc and it would be a shame if that ruined a perfectly great game
