Challenges can repeat them selves, we've must of had enough character design ones to go around with some differences, your one was a pirate character one, this one can be anything as long as it is pirate theme, so that can be ships, weapons, flags (if you're boring) treasure, characters etc. Although following the same theme, it is much more open for model types.

@David, afraid not, you have to model within the time limit. Anything made before hand or not generally for this challenge, aren't allowed to be entered, I'm sure an artist like your self will be able to come up with something else that is more likely to get you your points

Good to see people getting wips in already

I noticed blender just released some sculpting tools so I thought I'd mess with them a little bit. Much say they are very good. Better than Hexagon's even! They're quite fast, symmetry works perfect, and it integrates quite well into Blenders other tools.

I was able to import my .3ds model from wings3d, and export it back as a .3ds from blender into wings3d. So this is very exciting for me as I can now touch up my wings3D models with ease.

Here's the image, and likely my final entry.

Not bad buddy, needs more definition though, and the form. The hat and head need to be separate, but it would be cool to see what you make from this Mind you I haven't done any sculpting in months, heck, same for high poly work, and little modelling in general, hopefully I'll enter this one, but I'll have to check what work I have to do.

Yeah, we had a snow day here, so no school for me. Thought I'd actually get back to doing some 3D work. I'm quite rusty, but I am happy with how much I was able to change that little 139 poly head in about 30 minutes with the sculpt tools.

Great work man, His legs are a bit thin and his shirt goes down pretty far.

Personnaly i would fatten out the kneas and thighs alot, but i understand if your goin for a certain style.

And as of now the shirt is a bit to low, i think you should make the texture go up a bit.

But overall its really nice mate,

Great stuff there green dude Trousers look tight though, as though he is a dancer, for that, he might get beaten up by his fellow ship mates.

I disagree about the legs being too skinny and whatnot, Im pretty sure he meant for it to be like that, it gives it one of those "modern art" feels that are used in a lot of 3D films today.

I see, but for some reason I just feel he could star in The West Side story lol, I suppose it's down to how you look at it, but I see where you're coming from, and I'm sure the final piece will show that, I've seen a few of these 3D films, heck Mental Roy in 3D World Mag, had one of his politically incorrect rants on it.

OK new texture update. Thanks for all the comments guys. This model is a slightly better version of a pirate I did a while back, and when you see him, you'll see why the legs are like they are.

Pirate? He looks like he wants to find some "Precious gold! hahaw, yehah! Some gold hehehe! Yellow gold spurting from the earth! Yeehaw!"

In case that was a terrible impression, that's supposed to be a Texas gold digging stereotype. You knew pirate looks great, I can see what you're going for (And not a new character for West Side Story )

Plus, your Texas Gold Digging Pirate dude, it 'Teh' best! If you were to re-model him.

Looks great, both of you, with the coins, I'd throw some render techniques on there, some special lighting, specular applied etc.

This is my rebel ex-pirate, hes a pirate, but with more of a japanese fantasy kind of build.

hope to get round to texturing him..

i might use him in a program, thats why he has that bent out of shape machette. i thought he could start on a desert island. but thats a different story.

Thanks for the comments. Well just about finished the model UV and texture in 1 day now (including the rigging!). Think i might have started too late to get finished in time. I did think of el zilcho's idea and put on a nice sea background but nah!
