im trying to make a game so when i go up to a computer, text comes up for you to read. how do i do this?

Make a HUD, and then script the computer so that when the player is within a certain distance it displays the HUD.

A trigger zone will also work with a HUD. Read the Tips n Tricks.

As much as this will irritate one particular member, if you had a copy of signs iv you could do make one and have it in game in under a minute.

Easiest way is buy SignsIV, and it has the ability to make the hud with the text and place the script in to run in all with the click of a button. Yeah you can do it by hand, but no real point when Terry's product makes it so easy.

Why would it irritate somebody?Using Signs IV is the absolute easiest way to get text on the screen.

I agree, it's a fantastic program and really easy to use. I said that because in an older thread when somebody was referred to the signs website a particular member (who shall remain nameless, but who will inevitably post if they see this) had a hissy fit about it...
