Ok, so somebody in my "new creature" thread challenged me to rig the alien with the FPSC biped. I have just bought milkshape, and this is the first thing I rigged with it. It's taken me around 5 hours to figure everything out, stop all the deforms, get the firespot aligned, nightmares....

Anyway, it's done. I'd like to give a big thankyou to dennisb for his re-jig of the biped, bullshock for making the biped Milkshapey, and Mr Love, Manofart and FredP for their milkshape tuts, this was all very helpful and I couldn't have done it without your help.

Comments and Crit?...Shall I do a Scifi Pack?

PS, if anyone is thinking of rigging a model in milkshape, I advise you search "milkshape" in the models and media forum, and read threads by the people I thanked. Everything you need to know is there!

Hmmm...one of the few pieces of your work I don't think I'm fond of. With his shape it almost seems his texture should be Alien(the movie) like. I'm not saying copy it, but a darker, more a organic armored type of deal, with some painted on specularity to show the exo-skeletons hardness.

Ps: I hate new apps with a passion.

Butter,
I didn't really have a chance as I was really busy during Rolfy's posting of his spiders, but I've got some free time. I would love a chance to work with you perhaps. Do you think there's any way I could possibly get a clean version of the UV map on that monster. I'd love at least a try on what my vision of your creation should be.

If no that's OK too. But if it's a yes feel free to email it to me. I'd love a shot at it.

Peace and best

sure thing Loc.

Do you want it un-rigged? Before I send it you should know the UVs on the legs and head are mirrored, making a specular shine difficult to bake on... cuz it appears on both sides!

Drop me an email at my hotmail address, and I'll get it over to you...

I'd love to see what you can do with it!

Errant you said the word __sponys (dose that sound like it?). I've only heard you use that word (which I was unfamiliar with until meeting you) on two occasions. One being people that use baking, and the other, people using images instead of hand painting(which I'm guilty of in some circumstances, but not on my gun).

@Butter,
Back on topic. I guess I should have said send it anyway it's convenient to you man. I know I myself have versions saved before rigging, after rigging, pre physique, post. You may not save so many versions, and I do in case I mess up, so I don't have to start from square one. If all you have is rigged...Then so be it. I wasn't trying to be demanding on how I received it.

LOC
Nah, its cool man, I'm just learning Milkshape, and I'm very paranoid about messing up, there are SO many saves (one for each new bit of mesh assigned to a new bone!).

I'm sorry I haven't sent it yet, I've just been trying to setup a new PC and the graphics card and MB seem to have had a bit of an arguement, so I'm trying to make them friends again.

I'll get you the model in a bit... and thanks for the email, I'll be sure to give you a lil' feedback report...

SEERZACK,

Well it looks the same but it's totally different, the mesh is much optimised, and the animation set is totally different, the only similarity is cosmetic.

IS IT FREE?!

Well, I've currently got 6 original scifi characters, 2 terrains (each made up of 5 pieces) and 3 weapons. I'm thinking I might put a pack together... but due to the huge amounts of work (entirely custom sounds, decals, textures, rigged animations, custom animations, AI, etc etc) I will be selling it, although also setting up a Peanutbutterfinges store, a bit like iTunes music store, where you can instantly buy and download individual parts of the pack (and parts of LYTEFX).

If your new pack is anything like lytefx, it'll be a winner.

I think you should go on with the pack idea, the characters look really great.
Can you show us a bit more about it?

One more thing, how's the LYTE:FX sellings going?

Looking alright there butters. The only problem is, that the alien's limbs, and its fingers etc, look rather jagged when in-game. There are also little things that make it look rather unrealistic. An example is the clearence between the aliens torso, and its arms.
Oh, and I just noticed the way the top of it's legs stick of from its body. Anyway, theyre just my opinions - I still like the model, mind you

Good work there Butter's I like the scifi terrain the model in, like the darker version more than the light one.

Not sure if I like the direction you taken on that loc but we see when more is done.

Best s4

Another fantastic model (as if it'd be anything else!) Do you have a soundset for this Butters? I could have a go at putting one together if you like

Cheers to those who have thanked.

Smitho, I really appreciate the crit, at first I was like 'what the [mod edit]?', but then I thought, that it's actually much better to get some ideas for improvement, than a standard 'oh thats sexy'

S4, I really glad you noticed, that terrain (the bump scifi one) will be part of the pack.

Nickydude, that's a very kind offer man, and I'd be happy for you to see what you can do, but music/sound production is my original forte, and I was looking forward to doing this guy....ah what the heck, Loc is doing the texture... lets make this a community type thing, bust me some audio Nick, lets see how ya flex it.. brap brap brap*

Hey, er, man* no worries, it's your alien, you can do what you like!

Here's the soundset. Remember, this is taken from the screenshots only so you'll probably have a completely different sound in mind but here goes

It's in rar format and is 517kb. It has Hurt1, Hurt2, Hurt3 and FinalMoan.
