3 Dimensional Chat / exporting from tree magik and plant life to 3DS with textures

Hi everyone, I am new here. I bought Tree Magik and Plant Life to populate my levels in Unreal Tournament 2004 (and whatever else I do in the future). I am having a bit of difficulty in getting them OUT of the program and INTO 3DS Max (v8r3). I can import the models but the textures just sit in the folder and don't import with the model. Is this just the way it is or am I missing something? I guess I could import the textures manually, but from what I've seen so far the entire model - trunk/branches and leaves/flowers are all designated as the same texture channel in Max. That will be messy, I think.

I finally managed to get the tree into 3DS Max. From there I had to manually import the textures and assign them to the leaf canopy and trunk of the tree. In Max it looks pretty much like it does in Tree Magik, but in Unreal Tournament 2004, it looks really bad. I've not seen models do this before in the transition between the two programs - does anyone have any input for me here?
