It looks a little more like a child's plastic sword than an actual one. It looks a tad ackward and bulky around the hilt-guard. The hilt itself looks too wavy -- I wouldn't want to be grasping that. The sword blade also looks strange when it comes to a pyramid instead of a definate point -- it makes it look more like a baton or a warhammer.

Just my thoughts. But I think there's room to improve...

Looks more like a mace..

get rid of those bumps in the hilt and make the guard smaller.
...
and usually swords are pointy

Still, the blade isnt fine, with such a big place to hold it.The blade must be long.(It now looks like a failure at a dagger)

There's too many swords like this to be honest.

Swords are easy, yet people seem to prefer spending a dozen polygons on the blade and 2000 polygons on the grip.

It's a sword, who's gonna see the handle?

Swords can weigh in at only 100 polys and still look great, if you like I'll knock one up and explain it - maybe that would be a nice little challenge for people, make a sword in 100 or under.

This is not a critique of your modeling, just your sword, you have the skills to build the thing, you just need to concentrate more on sensible polygon counts.

Here you go, 94 poly's. Untextured but UV mapped and with a map image.

I only did it to illustrate a very low poly sword, so anyone can do with it as they please. I'd like to see what you (and other folks) do with it though, it should be good for a few variations.
