I have made a model of a snooker table and am trying to populate it with some balls. However I have loaded the object created a static mesh and it is not working correctly. The ball falls a short distance from above the table just for a test and it drops through the table and sits underneath where the slate bed would be.

Any ideas what could be causing this? I made the bed out of a box rather than a plain in as I wanted thickness for the pockets. I looked into ccd but it seems it isn't implemented yet. I can only assume it is a bug with the mesh conversion process somehow. Anyone else had this problem?

Without code it is really hard to help with trouble shooting however DP can handle all the physics required for pool or snooker. Here is my software competition entry to demonstrate

Are you moving the object(snooker table), using position object, prior setting it up as a static mesh?

If this is the case, it is a bug in darkphysics whereby collision does not work if the object is moved prior setting it up as static mesh. A workaround is to position the table were you want it in your 3D modeling software, and then just load and immediately set it up as static mesh.

Home computers are being called upon to perform many new functions, including the consumption of homework formerly eaten by the dog.

I have sorted it out now (sort of) I got the latest update (the beta) and it works fine. However it works fine on my other computer without the beta patch, so maybe a video driver related issue? I was reluctant to use the beta at first because.. it was a beta.

I must admit I am finding this physics stuff a little odd, not being able to move and position objects myself in the normal way. I just wish the help files on it were easier to find than they seem to be. Integrated into DB's help files would be better than at the moment

Thanks for the suggestions people.

If you need to move objects yourself use the kinematic commands, otherwise let the physics take control when you get them set up correctly it does a huge amount of work for you.
Its a shame that creating a good material and properties environment with sliders for all the properties is quite difficult to set up especially for cloth (you can't reset cloth properties) maybe in the next release
