I've made a little gif animation of how I modeled a Low Poly Male in Wings3D.
Sorry if you on dialup, it's a 500k file - not too bad though considering number of frames.

Flashing Blade, Thats a very clean mesh you have. It would be nice if you made a video tutorial on this using Wings 3D and allow me to host it on my 3D video tutorial website. I have a spare tab/page that I would dedicate to wings if you would be interested in making tutorials for beginners and advanced artist. A link to your website will also be posted on the resource page and you will be credited as the author for any tutorials you provide. If you are interested let me know. If you need software to capture your screen for the tutorials I can help you there. I am not promoting my website but I am all ways looking for new content to help those who want to learn.

A link to my site.

@MP3D thanks for the kind words.
The problem is I still am very unexperienced at modeling. Programing as always been my thing and I've always approached modeling as a chore and something I have to do to get unique media in my games.
It's only very recently that I realy discovered any enjoyment in modeling.
Anyway the word 'tutorial' as always, to me, sounded like the content as been written by someone who knows the subject inside out. Of course tutorials get written by unexperienced and, although their intentions are fully admirable, the more experienced readers are left shaking their heads at the bad advice buried within the 'tutorial'.
For the above reason I wouldn't like to put out a tutorial for a long time. However, I would be willing to write a step by step guide that would be edited and proof read by a more experienced modeler/animator - looking at your site, you seem to be experienced.

@ Bloodeath - yes I will probably do a step-by-step guide to show what I did in the above animation.

Flashing Blade, What you say is very true on new artist trying to make tutorials and giving bad advice,But from the .gif animation you have displayed I can see that you have a very good grasp on this.

I cant twist your arm and make you do it. I do believe this will help alot of people out. My site is geared towards high poly meshes and not so much on low poly. Heck it's crazy but modeling low poly for me is kinda hard. It realy makes the artist think of the flow of the mesh.

My thoughts on written tutorials are:
1: It would take a very long time to type every step taken and then convert that to .html and then add images to follow the text.
2. Because it takes so long to type out every step parts are left out. I know this to be true. I have worked through many, many tutorials only to find I couldnt finish it because of missing parts.Have you ever started a tutorial and the first words are ( I am going to assume you know your way around such and such program)?. Doesn't that suck!!!!!! So I decided when I was at the point to make tutorials to help people they would be videos. A video leaves nothing out. If you watched one of my videos you would see that there are mistakes and things at that moment I forgot where it was or how I did it. But I worked through it. Which helped the viewer see common mistakes and how to fix them...

I still think you could do this on the mesh you have in your .gif.
So I will end this book...lolololol...And say. I have a place for your tutorial and I hope you reconsider and make the video tutorial. If not thats cool....I will be watching your posts and try to help if I can....

MP3D.

I'll take a look at some of your video tutorials and probably give it a go sometime in the coming weeks.

And I wouldn't consider myself an artist. The above model was made around a reference image I downloaded. Realy the whole process I used is a bit like tracing but in 3D.

Flashing Blade,

Quote: "And I wouldn't consider myself an artist. The above model was made around a reference image I downloaded. Really the whole process I used is a bit like tracing but in 3D."

If that statement were true then 90% of 3D artist out there are not artist. Thats what a reference image is used for. And 2D artist that textures 3D models are not artist at all right? Because they use real life pictures to texture with. Have you ever heard of the clone tool in photo shop? SOOOoooooo.........Quit being so hard on your self I hate reading a post and the artist is putting there self down when there is no reason too. What you know about 3D is alot. And many people strive to be where you are at. Organic modeling for some is realy hard to do.

OK I am done...I hope you find the time and await your video tutorial.

Take care.

Flashing Blade I tried to email you about this but havent got any responce wich could be for many reasons. So i try my luck here, i wonder if it is possible to get that model you made on top in this thread? I find it to be a decent base model to work from and save some time. So is it possible for you to email me (or msn) that model in .obj or .3ds format? I would be really happy if it was possible.

Tnx in advance

Slooper
