I'm thinking seriously about investing in Bodypaint 3D later this week and also a quality 3D modeling programme.

This is for learning how to create models for use in FPSC, I figured Lightwave3D V9 would be a good choice to buy along with the Bodypaint 3D but I have a few questions before I spend my holiday money on this lot.

1) Which is the easiest to learn, Lightwave, Maya, Cinema 4D or XSI?

2) Are all the above ok for making models that can be exported to FPSC without a lot of hassle or using various other software?

3) Am I right in thinking Lightwave is a good choice and can provide professional quality results on par with the others mentioned?

1) I would say lightwave is the easiest and is great, once you get hang of it. Maya is Uber, but a liscence costs alot...

2) Every software will have allot of hastle exporting and importing to FPSC.

3)Maya is better IMHO, but is probably out of your price range.

Good luck dude

Yes Maya is really expensive, I think I'm going to have go for Lightwave. Thanks Tyrano.

I have access to 3DS Max at work but not at home, I bought Lightwave and Bodypaint already, just reading up on Bodypaint at the moment actually.

That should be a fair combination, Lightwave 3D is supposed to be generally good for games, I tried the trial and everything moves from it into DBP extremely smoothly, same should happen with FPSC and it was made in DBP.

Well Bodypaint 3D I'm understanding better than Lightwave, the latter seems to have a long learning curve as there's a lot to take in by somebody who is more or less clueless about 3D.

I now have a headache

I would go with Lightwave 9. I have had it for about 6 months now and it is far better than all my other 3D model maker.
