When i boot up 3ds max i get this thing:

Perhaps if you switched the display thingy from direct 3d to open gl? Then back again?? Its certainly to do with the 3d engine... I think

it's the rendering engine for 3ds max...it usually asks you what type you want when you install, though if you don't know what your system is capable of, then you should look that up instead of choosing randomly.

theres a part about setting this up in the troubleshooting section of your manual.
