You load MP3 files using load sound. load music is just for MIDI files.

Actually red metal soldier, your commands should work fine.
They do on my system.

Huh? The following code doesn't work for me:

However, change music to sound in both places and it works. Note that when trying to load an mp3 as music you don't get an error (the mp3 just doesn't play).

The following works fine for me.

but the following code

Generates
Runtime warning at line 2. Sound could not be loaded at line 2.

Changing the words sound to music makes it play.

Have you made sure that the MP3 is in the current directory?

That's really strange Heartbone, the way I described works for me, not the other. Strangely enough it's the opposite in DBP.
