What exactly is the maximum number of players in a Arena game?

It looks like you can put as many as you want in the Build Game dialog.

And if you have less joining than the defined max can you still start the game?

Thanks!

You can host the game and run around by yourself like a lunatic.
You can have less than the max amount of players.
You can have more than 8 players (it has been done).
I used 8 for my last MP map simply because it was a small area and I was going for speed.

You can have 16 players before FPSC will crash or cause a problem. But even if you add 16 players, you cant select the double digit players, so 9 would be the max, unless you can make a script to use the mouse to select the player you want to be?

I don't think that it could be done through scripts.

But yer its a problem that you can't choose the double digits; any more than 9 and it slows anyway; maybe that system should be adjusted for MP in 1.05 RC2
