I am fairly new at modeling, and I had a question regarding poly-counts. What might be a good number of poly's to use on a single low-poly human character?
And while I'm at it, what are some of the major pros and cons between using tris and using quads?

Just for your second question, there is no such thing as a quad in game. While you can model with 3+ sided polygons, everything is still just triangulated faces.

umm a human for most cases would prbably be 0-1200 polys, but it depends on the game. as for quads.

quads are just 2 polys. think of it this way, if you vut a square in half you get 2 triangles. triangles = 1 poly

thanks

Just to chip in on quads, feel free to use them if they make modelling for you easier. Internally, they'll be converted and you do not have to worry about the geometry at that level of detail.

Yeah, I've been using quads thus far, just curious as to what differences it would make.
