I am currently trying to run FPSC on a onboard video card (Real Crappy) 10-12 FPS If I am lucky I am trying to find a good but cheap video card that would be sufficient for FPSC. Anyone got any suggestions for something under 200 that would work great.

Hopefully something you either use yourself or have experience with.

Thanks alot

I use an Nvidia Geforce 7600 GT. I got it for $180 at my local Circuit City. If you live somewhere else, you can probably find it online for even cheaper. It produces great gaming, also.

10-12? Wow, you might want to upgrade your RAM (Memory). Recommended is about 1 GB for optimum experience. Also, download the latest Direct X also.

I have the latest directx and 512 ram. The 10-12 is at peak with virtually nothing on screen. Testing out the Terror Strike, Took it down to 3 to 4 FPS. My processor is a 2.8 Intel Celeron

Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.

I am looking to go ultra cheap, so I was just wondering if you think this would work okay. I have got to save my money, if I am going to buy a new vista system in July to play with the new FPSC 2.0

Wait till you get a new computer as what you have now won't cut it.

I just want to learn how to use FPSC and Dark Basic Pro. Are you saying that getting that video card won't make any difference? I am not looking to do anything intense for awhile. I just want to learn.

DBPro the specs are much lower than FPSC, but upgrade your RAM, GFX Card AND CPU, it's what I had to do, I got an:
Intel Pentium D 802 2.66GHz Dual Core
512MB RAM
ASUS Extreme 3000SE

They didn't cost heaps, and i'll be upgrading my RAM soon, but FPSC works great on that.

DB you can get and use but the FPSC will run to slow on your computer. bad lag .
I have a laptop with a 900 Celeron and it won't run on it. (FPSC)

wait until theres cheaper DX10 cards
then u will be DX10 worthy
or if u need to get 1 now
get the Leadtek GF 8800GTS 320Mb, its $510 AUD
or if u dont want DX10
get the 7900GS-7950GS
or if u like ATI X1950

i got a Gigabyte 6600GT its ok but old now

EDIT: REMEBER, these are PCI-e x16 cards
if your pc is oldish ,you might have AGP x8

this is my recomendation pc video, cpu and ram:
Intel ore2 Dou E6300
Nvidia Calibre P795+
1gig DDR2 533
its pretty budget, but good, unless u want DX10

I don't want to get anything to powerful, as I am afraid I would be lulled into a false sense of security about my games. I want to build the minimum good system, that way when I am designing my games, if I notice that it runs slow in certain spots on my system then I can fix and be assured that other people will be able to play my games without lag.

When I built my computer, I got the stuff that's not too expensive, but with a mobo that can be upgraded when I actually have money.
and yet my processor really sucks.

Specs:
AMD athlon 64 3000+
some kind of gigabyte mobo...the one with all the numbers in the name
ATI radeon x800
512 mb ram + another 512 for christmas

I've never had it lag on any game I've played, exceptions being some huge levels on battlefront 2 and aoe3.
And that's with full shaders, bloom, etc everything to the max.

I thought Motherboards with onboard video cards usually had only PCI slots, not PCI-e, or AGP, if that's the csae, you are better off buying a new computer, because PCI video cards won't be much better.

It has a 16x agp slot. All motherboards are different. I might end up buying a new motherboard anyway though. I love my case and I imagine I will keep it.

Hmm, for casual FPSC work, get the Gigabyte GA-8I945P-G-RH, only around $120AUD, and it works well with FPSC.

Wooah, I didn't see that! Yeah, that's right, but it's a good motherboard all the same.

Uhm...the faster the better for FPSC, remember that making games using a basic language is always a struggle for the computer.

I have:
Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2GHz
Asus mobo
3GB RAM
and one of the finest cards ever made the ATI Radeon X800XT Platinum Edition and FPSC still lags and brings the machine to its knees...

It's a good idea though to also have a slow pc to test it on, so you can tell people the min. sys. requirements for your game.
