I have created and animated a floor vent entity in 3D Canvas.

I checked the .x file in notepad and the animation info is there.

The animation does play in 3D Canvas when I create it.

But when I close and reopen the .x file in 3D Canvas the animation doesnt play.

It has 10 frames of animation opening but non closing.

I set it to use the dooruse.fpi.

When I put it in an opening in a floor, the entity shows up and looks like it should.

The only thing that it doesnt do is play the animation ingame.

Attached is a screenie of the settings I used in the entity maker and the .x file.

------------

Here is the .fpe file:

;header
desc = Floor Vent

;ai
aiinit = appear1.fpi
aimain = dooruse.fpi
aidestroy = disappear1.fpi

;spawn
spawnmax = 0
spawndelay = 0
spawnqty = 0

;orientation

model = door_d2.x
offx = 0
offy = 0
offz = 0
rotx = 0
roty = 0
rotz = 0
scale = 100
fixnewy = 0
defaultstatic = 0
materialindex = 2
collisionmode = 0
strength = 0
isimmobile = 1
soundset = auiobank\scifi\scenery\doors\lock.wav
soundset1 = audiobank\scifi\scenery\doors\close.wav

;visualinfo

textured = texturebank\scifi\scenery\doors\door_d\door_d_d2.dds
effect =
castshadow = 0

;Animationinfo
animmax = 1
anim0 = 0,10

-------------------

Can some enlighten me as to why it wont play the animation?

incense,

Greetings. I took at look at your model, and the animations were still intact.

Moving things around within FPSC...floors, ceilings, walls...sometimes mathematics get a little off.

After examining your model, the first thought that came to mind was that the conditions weren't being met for the .fpi to activate the animations.

I adjusted the plrdistwithin value of the .fpi file, and gave it a test. The hud prompt and animations are now working fine.

You will need to make animation adjustments to the distance that the door travels, as it currently does not travel far enough to allow the player into a passage.

I've attached the working folder that I used to test your door. Place Floor Door anywhere you choose, and place FloorDoor into scriptbank\user. You'll be able to take it for a test drive.

Good luck to you, in your future endeavors.

Thanks,

Seth Black

When I made the model and the animation it opened all the way.

I dont know how to addjust it except to reopen it in 3D Canvas and reanimate it.

Will that mess up the fact that it works what little it does now?

Edit 3:21 PM 3/19/2007:

I finally got it all working.

I had to make some small changes to the fpi and the fpe.

I now have a basic use floor vent and a doorkey floor vent.

They work perfectly.

Thanks a ton.

I'm glad that you got it working. That's a nice effect! Glad to help.
