didn't know you could buy the earlier versions..though i've heard of people selling their copy's of max on ebay, is that legal?

Yes you can sell your older version of max to some one you have to contact Autodesk and ask them for a License transfer sheet that they will e-mail to you. you then fill it out listing the transferor (seller)and the transferee (buyer), I just did this with my old version of Max 7 last week after I Upgraded to 8 and it was totally Legal and the person at Autodesk was very polite add helpful I might add.

Here's a copy of the sheet they sent Me.

thats the same for maya purchases chupa (same company now), but as for just whacking it up on ebay or something thats illegal.

yah, you could really use any version with direct x support on DB and dgdk

though my question is how are so many people able to purchase max? i wish i had extra money like that. some of the people who use it went overboard with purchasing it because they are literally no good at 3d...blah

Just use common sense. By the quality of their models it should be obvious who's models should be avoided if you dont't want to use models made from pirate software, as you to could be sued.
Unless someone is giving away free bundles of money and they just haven't got round to me yet

i stay away from most 3ds max user posts on here anyway, I'm a legit modeler, so i have no worries of being sued
