I have got a good idea to organizate a small competition .
the intention of it that the community get much more free stuff.
What the contents is: To make the bests requested model .
That can be used in fpsc. this way as a taps, cars, weapons ...
finely everybody go and make his own model.
And at the end of the week everybody must be ready with its model.
Then you most put it on this topic , and its ready to rate it !
finely everybody has free models, and pleasure on the competition.
I think that there are many skilled peoples on the forum that will glad to make free stuff to other peoples...
If the competition goes on , I want say pair points.
The judge of 5 man will rate your object.

The models will be rated on the following points.

1) Game Efficency (How well it runs, too many polies run poorly)
2) Overall In Game Appearance (how it looks based on modeling and texturing)
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is)
4) How well it fits the theme/parameters of the competition.

THEME

modern day wall objects and street models.

Dead line is 23:59 on the 30th of April

JUDGE LIST
-Tyrano
-Loc
-MonT
-KeithC
-wizard of id

Note: by posting models they must be ready for fpsc.
many thanks to Airslide and tyrano man .

I started a scifi weapons creation competition...failed horribly, due to the lack of entrants. The problem with this though is it's too broad. You need a theme, and maybe a type of item - furniture, weapon, or character (though I don't recommend character - far few people can make those well). Plus, resolution shouldn't be a factor in points. I'd grade it by:

1) Game Efficency (How well it runs, too many polies run poorly)
2) Overall In Game Appearance (how it looks based on modeling and texturing)
3) Texture Quality (how good the texture is, not resolution)
4) How well it fits the theme/parameters of the competition

modeling for fun

but the winner should pick the next topic; like the level competion.

Also make your topic more specific.
Quote: "create street and wall entities"

This topic should be moden day wall objects. That will make it eaisier to judge.

in these competitons you ussually have judges instead of everyone rate each others.

I'll help you and be a judge if you want to get this competiton going well

Good luck everyone
Tyrano

I'm total agree with you tyrano man.
There have to be professional judge of maybe 4-5 man.
I will also edit my main topic , by using your theme.
Well i think we should have some good judges ...
but who want to do that ?
Yes thank you very mouth , your help will be a plesuer. And im glad to hear that you want to be a judge. But we have to get more ....
Maybe Airslide want to be one ? He is also a pro-User and can rate very well.
Also i think when the competition is ready we can putt all the models in one pack. And make a special site for it...i dunno
Quote: "how many entries can we have?"

I think one is good , then you have more chance to win.

P.S. thanks to all! to supporting me.

Now how are you judging your own items? Just wondering how that's gonna work.

Maybe I could offer my services as a prize. One custom character of the winners design/choosing for their game. If they have concept sketches or some idea of what they wanted I'd model and texture that character and make it FPSC ready with the stock FPSC biped and animations. The time I would need to complete something like this after the comp ends would really depend on what I was making. I would not totally design a character for someone. I wouldn't want to be changing things after I'd made it. They would have to submit something(even like a picture of a gangster like in that other thread, I'd concider that a concept and design)

Wow thats a good prize loc; that will really make this competiton start well

I thought of a way this could work.

-Theres one model competion a month.
-There are 5 different judges each month; who work together and choose the winning entry.
-If you are a judge you cannot enter the competion this month; but you won't be a judge next month; and you can enter then

Only one entry from each person.
Having more than this will unbalance the competion if some people only have time to make one.

The winner gets to choose the next topic; but they can't compete in it. So no one can win twice in a row.

You have longer this time; you will ussually have the 30th to the next 30th; but we will have the 23rd of march untill the 30th of April. this time; so you have an extra week.

Dead line is 23:59 on the 30th of April

The competition starts once you've finished ready this post! (iv'e always wanted to say that).

So judges so far for this month are:
-Tyrano (Me)
-Loc
-MonT
-two more spaces available

If any one has any complaints about this method; let me know. I'm a judge this month so i'll model next month

Competitions own
Tyrano

P.S. I'll host next months one if you want.

@Keith: cool thanks for the contribution.
@darimc: You can if it's finished.

That means we have 3 prizes.

The winner will choose what they want first; then the runners up get second and 3rd choice

Looks like this will work well now; thanks for starting this OLEG. I have had the same idea before; but i never posted as i thought it wouldn't work But this does

Next months will be much more organised. Or if a mod is cool with it. We could make a new thread will all the right updated info; and then delete this one

I don't think TGC will like you giving away their products. Even if it is a comp. prize. Tha could care less about what we do with FPSC as long as they get money. Just so you don't get in big trouble I'd just stick to donating a self-created model.

Also i'll e-mail a mod about starting a new thread, because this one is all mixed up now.

Keep on modeling!

Please provide the Order Reference number given to you when you purchased these packs, because there isn't a single order from you, ever, associated with your current TGC account - which means the above claim is bordering on bogus, and we want evidence of purchase before we'll let this go through as there has been too much piracy of our model packs here recently. If no Order Reference can be given either purchase the packs now, and post it, or withdraw your offer.

That was some garbage that he made up instead of just admitting his post violated the AUP.People do that from time to time.
Check around the forums and see how many people have actually had their accounts hacked.
I don't want to crucify people for thedir past sins but he has had a repeated problem with this and unless he can pull a rabbit out of the hat he is in a lot of trouble. If you buy model packs there would be a record of it and there isn't one for him.
You might be able to go to the local Wal-mart (or whatever your country has in the way of a superstore) or whatever and purchase FPSC and TGC might not have record of it but you can only get the model packs by downloading them from TGC.
Tyler has every opportunity to post an explaination here.

Unfortunately, after giving Tyler a chance to respond, his account has been removed from the forums here. I'd like to remind folks that it's not OK to steal, even if it seems like it's something intangible (like digital content). Each content pack represents not only the time it took to create it (which is extensive); but also the time it took to learn not only how to create digital content, but also the time it took to learn how to impliment it into the game engine (in some cases, multiple game engines).

By stealing/pirating digital content, you are ensuring the possibility that individual artist/programmer will no longer offer content/applications for sale. It is much more profitable to do contract work, than to sell a content pack for dirt-cheap prices. So when someone makes a content pack for dirt-cheap prices, and has that pack stolen repeatedly; it's basically a slap in the face. Indy developers don't have large coffers to make up losses with; you are pulling directly from their pockets.

With all the latest issues dealing with piracy of media here, lately; we will be taking a "zero tolerance" approach to it from now on. No more warnings.

-Keith
