Is there a program that will convert md2 to somehow work with 3ds max 8?
is there a plug in?

I know milk shape can do This but my milk shape has been playing up lately

so is there anything that can do this?
and perhaps md3 as well..
any help appreciated

re install your milkshape if its giving your grief.
there is a page also on the milkshape site that has a few tools you might be interested in.

there is also a md2 viewer on MS3ds site so you can see any problems the model might have

As for max.

Try to avoid using a pirate copy of 3d studio max.
[1] the current 30 day trial is for version 9
[2] its thousands of dollars in australia for it
[3] you would not be asking for help regarding it, if you had invested that much money into a package without knowing somewhere on the net to look or ringing your MAx reseller where you bought it from.

I have 3ds max 8 already...I got it for my birthday last year.

Tried reinstalling milkshape..Ill contact milkshape staff...

so any md2 CONVERTERS!
lying about anywere?

Misfit Model 3D can import md2, md3, lwo, ms3d http://www.misfitcode.com/misfitmodel3d/download.html

aztec 3D can do that ( 1,13 version have more export formats )http://sourceforge.net/projects/aztec/

Yes and I think that there is also plugin for 3ds max, maybe but for version 6- but it should work for 7 and 8
