Why is it that my frame rate drops radically (like 70 to 30) just by adding a few lines inside the game loop, changing current bitmap and perform a couple of operations so the hud can be updated? Am I doing something wrong?

Also, the transparency thing doesnt seem to work, if I set it on so black colored pixels dont get drawn, the entire texture becomes invisible. Again, am I doing something wrong, is there a trick to make this work? Or will it be fixed in a future patch?

Thanks

I'm guessing that you're using GET IMAGE? That's always a slow operation.

How about your alternate bitmap. Is it large? Are you doing a CLS on it? If the answer is yes, then this could also slow things down a bit.

I'm pretty much guessing here. Any chance of a small example to give us an idea of what you're doing?

Yes, I rewrote the code one step at a time, it droped from 90fps to ~40 in exclusive mode when i used the get image command. Quite right, guess I have to find another way.

Thanks
