Revenge is a multiplayer LAN fps, akin to DOOM and Wolfenstien. It was released about a week ago, by my group BioFox Games. The graphics are not the greatest, but people have described them as "retro" and "interesting", words that are used positively. The rough story behind Revenge is that you play as Jack Fantastic, a shotgun wielding, trench coat w earing guy with a passion for duking it out.

Took us about a year to make, and it runs smoothly considering our large use of images (around 100 bitmaps). Try it out, play with your friends, and spread the word; because now you can get Revenge!

Download: http://www.biofoxgames.com/revenge.php

Screen shots:

Chaingun on the map Verbetum.

Handgun on the map Arena.

Shotgun on the map Crossbones.

Chaingun again on the map Intersect.

Chainsaw on the map Prisoner, notice the Revenge powerup behind the bars.

Nice game. It plays very smooth and I kinda like the doom style. Good work.

@Zombie 20
We're planning on making an editor which will allow you to make the maps much easier than manually changing files.

To everyone, thanks!

Since Mr. X kindly gave us the map portion of the code, it should take me a day or two to right the rest. Right now I'm very busy, so it'll probably be sometime next week, in the Thursday to Saturday range.

@Mr. X
A year of development and finally it's arrive!

RevengEdit is done on our site,http://www.biofoxgames.com. Have fun using it to make maps. I couldn't think of a good way to allow people to change the music and images, or the collision, so you'll still have to do that manually. If you make a good enough map, send it to biofoxgames@gmail.com and I'll consider putting together a map pack to release.

I've fixed it since then; the floor stretches as far as the map can be.

Props to Mr. X for making the GUI for the map editor. Thanks a bunch!

No problem. I'm just glad I could help. Anyway, I found a small bug as an result of my insanity to make huge things when I have an area to fill up: The maps can be too huge for the game, so if you are in the "wrong" part of the map and look in up (as an example), you'll se a blue monster that eats up the skysphere! Ok, it's not a monster, it's DBPro thinking "ok, here goes the limit where I'm supposed to paint out". Anyway, it's nice. Good work.

One thing though. It would be good if it would leave some kind of mark where you've allready placed something... like a colored sphere or something.

not a bad game by any means, but I noticed a small bug, which you may wish to fix:

For whatever reason, when I was the host, if I still had my fire button down at the end of a game, and then went on to host another game, my weapon would just fire out all of it's ammo instantly, and not let me stop firing...

if it matters it was the chaingun I was firing when the time limit ran out. next map, all my ammo was used up at the speed the chaingun goes through ammo, with the chaingun firing sound, and there goes all my weapon's ammo, worse factor being it (edit)wouldn't(/edit) let me switch the pistol, or pickup others...

...But that bug aside, a good simple game, well done with it!

Awesome game! if u can actually find a game this can be really addictive!!!! One LITTTTTTLE glitch that I found, its not to big a deal really unless you think you're sneaking up on someone... The opponents character doesn't update unless you hit forward or back, so they can rotate on one spot and still look like they are facing away from you! no biggie tho!

Thanks for the comments guys! I'll address both of those bugs, but they're ones we've had for some time. The chaingun one was a lot worse, and I'm still not sure what's wrong with it since all the variables are reset. When I have the time I'll look over the code again.

I assume, Nemesis, that you are talking about the angle textures of the players. Not sure, but I think it has to do with either receiving or sending packets. I'll see what I can do.

Tell your friends to download it, or have them over for a match! If you really want to impress them, make your own maps with RevengEdit. The more the merrier To put it in perspective, Revenge has been out for about a month and already we have 53 downloads!

Found another bug. If you stand still and someone fires at you with the chaingun, and you die, you'll still get hurt when you respawn.

Anyway, I've made a small map. It's calles Chaos. Hope you like it.

Yea, that's actually the packets being sent after the person dies. I'll add it to the other problems and it'll probably be solved by clearing the new packets after death.

Nice map, I'll add it to the map pack that will be released. As soon as we have 6 or so maps it'll be out, so if anyone wants to contribute, feel free. You'll get your due credit, of course.

Haha, did your friend like it too?

Yea, I've been gone for a week so I haven't been on the forums. I'm guessing everyone posted so much on the Beta 2 thread that this got slow. Either way, we've had 59 downloads of Revenge and 8 for RevengEdit. Sounds like we did something right.

Thanks for bumping fxgamer.

I liked the game, but I'll have to be honest... I'd like a lot more with better artwork.

I understand the style and all, and I'm not saying it needs to look like Half Life 2 or anything, but too many of the graphics bleed into eachother. Perhaps some thicker black outlines would help give it more of that comic book feel, especially around the weapon. And it would be nice to either tone down some of the color intensities or give the user the ability to lower it. (not sure if you already have that in the options)

I played Arena level.

That's true, and that's what we're working on for our next games; how to make more interesting features that keep people hooked.

Yea, that's what a lot of people have said. Honestly, we spent more time on the coding the graphics. Once again, a part of our games we're working on.
