Hi, I was trying the tutorial last night and I typed everything in correctly, then I tried to run the program and it told me it couldn't find the bitmap that came with the tutorial. So I looked to see if I had the path typed in right where the bmp was so I could copy it in the project folder. I had the right path.

I tried it several times and it still told me that it couldn't find the bmp. Can someone help me please?

Don't take this personally - but why did you type in the code? We supply the source code files and images for you They're in the ZIP file.

Cheers,

No, I won't take it personal.

I do know that all the stuff came with the zip.
I am not that good of a programmer yet, I love DarkBasic Pro.
Sometimes I don't understand things that easy. I hope to be alot better programmer by the end of the year.

I extracted the zip. Do I leave the bmp where it is in the tutorial and tell DBP where it is so it copies the bmp to the project file or do I have to cut and copy?

If you have unzipped the tutorial there is a folder called "source code" - simply go into here and double-click the .dbpro file - it will load up into DarkBASIC Professional. You can now run it and it'll find the right paths/images for you (providing you didn't move them). Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Rich

BTW if it doesn't load into DarkBASIC Professional when you double-click a .dbpro (or .dba) file then you need to download and install both Patch 4 and the IDE upgrades (available from this site).

Hi again,

I tried the tutorial again just like you told me and it worked the first time, how I don't know. Then I tried it again and I was getting this error:

Runtime Error 504- Cannot grab image due to an illegal area at line 18

If you typed in the code exactly, then the image must be located in the folder "/media"
if so, then your .dba file/(s) must be in the directory prior to the media folder.. for example my media file is located at
c:\media
so my .dba file/(s) must be located at
c:\
for it to work.

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.
