Just a little note. It's probably not a big deal to most, I finished up a site for S4 and my game.

The reasons for doing the site, are more then what's eluded to in the following paragraphs, but we can start with these.

Having this site allows us to show you the media without all the little black bars that I use to censor portions of the comics or character images if they have less then required dress. Also censoring this stuff takes time that I could be using to do different things. Adding a few bars may not take up much time, but theres no point in it at all if you don't need to.

There is no forum on this site, and as much as I hate most of these threads as there little more the a "Please join my site" type threads, that is not why I post. I don't expect anyone at all to join it though your welcome to if you'd like.

Another reason for making the site, is RSS feeds. Really there's only certain people on this site that I'm truly interested in what they're doing. I'm hoping people seeing my site, will prompt them into placing RSS feeds on their sites. Makes things so much easier when trying to keep tabs on your interest.

Please look at the site and let me know if anything looks off to you. Sometimes you can be way to close to a project to be objective.(Keith I will deal with what you talked about when I get a chance.)

Some of you more skilled patrons of the TGC site, may be interested in the Sinful Opp. link. Ya never know...

Finally I thank Keith for the little pre-screening and his relaying the OK from BatVink, that the content within is more then covered by the age verification prompt on the root URL.

The site is for a mature game. It asks that you be 18 to enter, though no way I can stop people from lying. But if your reading a comic and your mom looks over your shoulders wondering why your looking at a half naked woman cussing like a ticked off sailor.....
Leave TGC and me out of it.....Your the one not supposed to be there....

thats a pretty damn funky website, im loving the header and the side panels, not too crazy about the 'age page' as the image tiles, which can sometimes look nasty.

also, running at 1920x1200, the main pages background (the green/black gradient doesn't fill the entire page, and isn't centered.

other than that, some top notch work.

btw, nice grunge banner

Can i ask what html editor you use? and if possible, see a table/cell line layout?

Got that age image fixed on the age verify page Jon, and thanks for the heads up. I'll be workin on the main next.

Normaly I use Dreamweaver. But I'm having ethernet card probs and I'm doing changes all by hand today on another comp in the network, and don't have Dreamweaver on this comp(only licened to my main). Even so, this site does not use tables....it's a css driven CMS.

I'd look more into the 'Sinful Opp.' but unfortunetly other than some neat effects and scripting I can't do all that much Well, I can do more than that, but you can probably do anything else I do a heck of a lot better. Just don't forget our bargain, I still owe you scripts when you need them

Anyways, nice site. Are you going with the MP6 weapons in the end? Or will you make your own like that pistol vid you posted when you were being....er..opininated..lol...

A combo of our weapons and the M6. I just used the M6 hands so like our Berletta92, and our hammer, and the Katar....whatever else is planed.....can be used with the M6 pack with no change in the way the hands look. I use the M6 hands in all the weapons I make now. I had a pair of hands made, but when M6 came out, I revamped and used those.

Theres an image I used in a post a wile ago of the m6 shotgun with my revised texture, and above that is our main weapon, the Berletta92, with re-rigged m6 hands and my texture.....All matches cleany-wiennie

And I haven't forgoten about cha Airslide....I'll just cash in my markers when S4 and I are really stumped...hehe

Nice site guys. Only comment I have is too many menu buttons. You could try bunching up a few into 1 category.

Since it's more of a showcase for the game, it should be a tad more of screenies, videos etc.

But great design nevertheless.

I checked out the site when keith posted about it elsewhere and from the quick look I took it looks nice.
I will have to check the gallery out and see what little words you hid with the black bars.
I think it's great that you're making a game for adults.
I'll check it out again in a moment since it appears you have made some adjustments.
I still can't wait to play this game.

Edit: Looking good.When I get the chace I will have to view the whole gallery.

@filya,
Quote: " Having this site done is a big load off my mind. It can serve as an online diary until the day it's actually released, then can be cleaned up, showing less of the behind the scenes work to reflect a more professional product."
As mentioned on the site in all the needless info you mentioned links to.

@KeithC,
Hmmm, a beer mod? Say in 5kb, 5mb, and 5gb downloads? Kinda like having a 12oz'er or a 40oz'er or a keg?

@Fred,
Yeah Fred that site my way of streakin baby....It's black bar free. Plus I get to sport a nifty sig like all the other kids my age. *WoOt

Not to double post but this has absolutely nothing to do with any of these more recent post:

Anyone here a CSS guru? Getting the image on the age verification page was easy in html. Lil div lay info and poof.

On the site I've defined the tag in my css as
Quote: "bg {

position:absolute;

z-index:-1;

width:100%;

height:100%;}"

and set the tag in my php with:

Quote: "<div>
<img id="bg" src="http://sinninsoul.out-lawz.com/AgeVerified/templates/rhuk_solarflare_ii/images/Custom/page-bg.png" alt="" title="" />
</div>"

Now of course to make Jon happy I'll have to make a band width eating monster, to replace my little tiled 8x1003(1024-scrollbar) image, but it does not seem to be stretching. It shows up like it should but don't stretch to the 100% width as defined in the css.

Any here know where I may be flubing it before I have to go lurking around some CSS forums?(I have looked for answers but what I see is pretty much how I have it. Didn't mean to imply me of all people didn't look first. Just wondering if ppl I knew might know before I go talk to strangers, cause my mommy told me not to)

I'm no web designer but wouldn't the 100% be for the actuall image size compared to the image itself? Meaning 100 = full size, 50 = half size? In which case you'd need some sort of return function for the screen width/height, like DBP's screen width() and screen height() commands. But I could be all wrong

100% is in relationship to the body size in the css function.

In the php call im telling the the image to be id'd as the bg and to be 100% the height of the body and 100% width of the body.

Mos the code I've seen is exactly like mine, except they may use something else as the ID. But the Css defines the ID so I could make the background be called
Quote: "<img id="Nifiltucken" src="

if I wanted. Long as I had it defined as that in the css.

My problem is I'm not seeing any difference in my code and that of the 100's of css tutorial sites. The fact it shows up says it's making the call to the image....it's just not resizing it....and Jons really starting to tick me off.
Who used 1920x1200 anyhow....pffft

Wow no idea. And I don't seem to find alot about it on the Joomla site. Looking it up on google I only see like 10 mentions of this total. Some linking back to 2005 post, so I'll have to do some research.

What were you doing to get this error? You seem to be in the main Gallery, but none of the thumb nails are showing for the categorys or the banner that takes the place of what says "ad" in your image.

I don't get this error. What browser are you running and what version of Java runtime? Try deleting all of your cache's

PS: did you ever get the new mary? you never did write me back.

hey Loc and S4, does age verification work? I just tried putting in 2003 as my birth year and I could still see all images and read all the balloons without blac bars.
Pardon me if this is again mentioned someplace on your site.

I think its rather silly of you to:
1) Aim a game at adults when the vast majority of people here are under 18.
2) Give your website a age verification system, since alot of your 'mature' content can be viewed quite freely on the showcase board.

That said, this game still looks good (yes i lied about my age, just see if the system worked ofcourse...) and you've obviously put along of effort into all aspects of the game; the characters, the weapons (or at least the hand re-textures) and the screenshots from the in game look good too. I'll be pleased if you finish this, mostly because its such a big project, it will be a real test to see if you can ever finish it.
I wish you good luck in you game creation,
AE

Some of us on this site (and obviously the target mrket for this game) are over 18.
The age verification thing is one more way to prevent a parent from suing him they go "OMG!Once again I wasn't paying attention to what my child downloaded!Instead of taking responsibility for it I will blame these people on this website!"

Another thing of note is that all of the stuff that Loc posted in the Showcase forum does fall within the limits of the AUP and it does not on his site.

It's one thing if an adult goes to his site and checks to see if the age verification thing works.If you are under 18 you should be aware from earlier posts in this thread that there is adult content and you should not go to the site anyway.

@Filya,
If you turn off Java you can click go and get right to the site. Thats not my problem if people get around the age verification. It's not my job to make sure people are really 18. You can also book mark a page from the inside and bypass it all together on your next time to the site. Bottom line is at one time or another every user to that site has seen the first page.

What you'll notice is that once inside, every URL reflects:
http://www.out-lawz.com/sinninsoul/AgeVerified/index.php

Meaning if you got in here your either in this site legally, or you used means to bypass the age verification.

I'm not expected to police our site or it's users.

@Avenging Eagle,
I think it's pretty silly of you to presume I'm marketing this to the people on this forum. Somewhere in that site it states, that I'm making this more for me and my friends. With a daughter in collage, the youngest people I'm in contact with are legal to drink if not to be drafted. Then there's my friends, who all grew up playing Nintendo in the 80's that are still game geeks now. SinninSouL is my Golgo13(and unless you played games in the mid to late 80's that wont make sense). The only reason I market it here at all is because some of you might like my media to use in your own games.

You'll also notice the people I really talk to on this site aren't young. Fred...old as heck....S4..get him a wheel chair...Candle...not even going there ...Keith...heh .. Rolfy ..Mr world traveler artist ...Errant ..need I go on?

And it is a big project. But I think thats going to be the difference in this when it's released and the other FPSC games.....This isn't slapped together like a bunch of Lego's. It will get finished. I just won't be pushing out 3 games a year like Ben who complains about his games not selling and this engine.

I actually have this idea s4 and myself can pass this off as professional even with us being a couple noobs. It just takes time.

Loc is just trying to keep from getting sued when he gets rich off of his game.
I hope when he hits the big time he still talks to little folks like me.
As far as the age verification goes when I add the page(s) for my game on my site in the future I am going to simply have a banner that says "Don't click if you are under 18" or something like that.
If someone under 18 does click on it one or more of three things are obvious...
1. The individual under 18 apparantly didn't comprehend the banner.
2. he or she did comprehend the banner and would have tried to circumvent any age verification anyways so trying age verification would just be a waste of time.
or
3. Their parents do not keep track of what they do on the internet...not a good thing.

My youngest child was born in 1998 so he can do whatever he wants but if I had children that were a young age...knowing what I know about the web...you can be your sweet little backside I would know where they surf and what they see 24/7...and if I can't do that then as a parent I need to smash up my pc.

Edit:i did not mean for this to be slightly off topic or to go on a rant.I was just trying to make a point.
My apologies if it appears otherwise.

If I'm correct Fred It's up to me to complain if somethings gone off topic being the author of the thread. I never care if things go off topic, because I just consider it a bump. Talk about the weather in the Congo for all I care. To me the subject of 'Age Verification' is very much 'on topic'.

Loc, i did actually compliment you in my previous post as well y'u know...

Obviously, i realise that there are older members her and quite a few will have no trouble getting onto your site with a clear conscience. I just thought i'd put my 2 cents in about how not very many people on here are old enough.

As you have said,
Quote: "I'm making this more for me and my friends"

All i was trying to get at was that is it really worth the effort just to sell 10 copies to your buddies on here and your friends? I know that you and S4 are very commited to this project, and the commitment shows in the results so far.

All i can do is wish you (again) the best of luck in making this game.

AE

P.S. I didn't need a 230 word rant to tell me how commited you are...i knew already

@Filya thanks. I don't test in IE 7. I don't support Internet explorer at all nor ever use it. Regardless if most people use it. IE refuses to WC3 compliant, I boycott them completely.

point is all see the main page.

PS Thanks for reminding me Filya. I usually make an anti IE image to sport. This is the one that runs on a clan site that runs on Out-lawz.

@Ae,
Yeah it was worth it....Only took me 2 1/2 days to make, and now I can show things how they were intended instead of black boxing them.

It would be very unlike me to make any less of a site for something I'm working on.

Your site isn't to bad. Better then a majority of people around here. Doesn't show enough of ones style or personality or calibur for me to use a stock PHPBB or PHPNuke free ware portal though. So thats what makes it worth it. I don't want to be like everyone else.

You make crosshairs because you can. Would it be fair to question why normal stock ones weren't good enough for you?

I do what I do because I can......same deal....I'm not saying I'm all that. But I do the best I can with whatever I'm working on, be it a 500 layer texture for a gun, or making a website thats worthy of our game.

Gotta remember I got s4 to answer to also. Can you imagine all the bad words he'd call me if I slapped up a white page with the words "buy me now" on one page?

I actually completed that game without using the level select cheat, I was so hardcore back then.

Congradulations Loc.

Your website looks very professional I like the idea of your comic to base a storyline to your game and help those who see this early to know whats to come. Also the screenshots to your game look very professional.
I like what you have done with FPSC and how far your bringing this out from the stages of being just a personal game editor to something you can build on a level of marketing your product. Not to just the few but to the mass's.

Also I am a 37yr old single parent with a 13yr old son and I have seen nothing on his site, screens, and even in his post about adult material that my son hasnt already seen. I personally leave choices like that up to each individual parent on how they want to raise there kid but for me if my son wants to play the game I would certianly let him.

Once again Loc and S4 its alot of work the two of you are doing and I hope the best for both of you....
