yes it can but it would be a extremly hard task if your new and hard even if ur a vetrain

Ah...so what do most of those guys use? A database engine (SQL Server or Oracle) and C++?

Personally I'd write the server in something fast like C, have a MySQL database in the background. For the client you could get away with Dark Basic.

Now my problem is that I don't know C! I'd probably draw up a specification for the server program, and the game's network protocol and let my mate Dave have it. In a couple of months he'd probably get back to me and ask for the client program to test it.
