I haven't been able to find any tutorials on how to use transparency in gimp

In the image editor i used to use (which makes .gif, which is pointless for FPSC) i just set a particular colour to be transparent, but i don't know what to do with The Gimp, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thankyou

E.D.

you could also delete the initial "background" layer and create a new transparent layer over which to begin drawing, then save it as either .PNG or .TGA.

You might try here.

It has quite a bit of info and instructions on how to use the Gimp.
