I used the ww2 wood stairs and the aiko entity.
I set way point going up some stairs.
When the aiko entity got to the top of the stairs she got stuck and would not go any further.
I searched the forums and found similar issues but nothing close enough to help me with this.
I did read the manual that is how I learned to use waypoints.
The tips and hints guide had nothing about this.

Is there anyone else other than me that has seen this issue?
If so how can it be remedied?

You might try raising the waypoint up a bit in the editor in case it is a collision problem with the top of the stairs or the floor.

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

I tried that and the pageup and down keys dont seem to affect the waypoint or the nodes in the path.

If that is not how it is done then how?

I have also set the entity to follow me and deleted the waypoint path. She still gets stuck.

To my knowlege, characters aren't supposed to be able to navigate stairs or lifts, so I can't say for sure. As for adjusting the waypoint, yeah, you seem to be right. Try moving the point at the top of the stairs back away from the stairs a little.... I don't know.

Best.

It says in the manual on Page 56 that waypoints are meant for enemies to follow even up and down stairs.

I will continue to mess with it but will value any input I can get on the subject.

I've had enemies follow stairs. Used the tutorial mentioned by incense and it worked fine. If I remember correctly I didn't have them start out right at the stair well though.

You'll get'ur figured out

I dont have the entity starting at the bottom of the stairs. The starting point is away from the bottom of the stairs.

It will probably be where your waypoint is located. Take a screen shot showing how close your waypoint is to the bottom of the stairs.

I have tried placing the waypoint node far and close to the bottom of the stairs and every point in between. attached is the fpm of my latest attempt to get it to work. It is all stock content.

Can someone run it and see if it works for them?

Ok Mickm thank you very much. I have been using FPSC for some time and never tried to get enemies to walk up stairs while following waypoints. I hope this is possible.

Thanks again.

Ok after some testing, still unsure why your level will not work. However, I recreated a test level (see download and image) and I was able to make them walk up the stairs no problem.

The level was built in V105.

Let me know if you are able to run that correctly.

Your level did what it was supposed to do.

I to have V105 installed.

I also got rid of the landing at the top of the stairs so that the enemy would fall down when it got to the top of the stairs. It did not fall. It got stuck even though there was no floor there to get stuck on. It seems as though it is getting stuck on the top stair.

Edit 12:30 PM 4/19/2007:
I reinstalled V105RC2 and now the enemies walk up the stairs and dont get stuck at the top. Issue resolved.

Hold the phone! Issue not totally resolved.

I added a plaform at the top of the stairs and the enemy got stuck again. I took the platform awa and the enemy went straight up the stairs and over the top and fell to the floor. Not it seems to be the fact that the platforms are the issue.

I adjusted the FPS file so that the platform was below the top step and the enemy still got stuck.

I then removed the platform and the enemy still got stuck.

I tried using a ramp and got the same issue. The enemies dont seem to want to go from a slanted surface to a flat surface, or where a flat surface has been and then been deleted.

I removed the tallest section of ramp so that the enemy would walk off the end of the ramp. Just as I thought, the enemy walked right the end of the ramp. There had beem no flat segment there before. It only gets stuck where it goes from stairs or ramps to a flat surface or to where a flat surface had been.

This is getting pretty random and confusing. I will to bet that no one on the forums has ever seen this in this way and has no idea how to fix it.

We might get luck and have someone stumble onto this thread and have the answer. I have been wrong before.

I'm bumping this because I still have issues with this.

Is there anyone that can shed ome light on it?

Please!! I really needs input on this. Its hard to beleive that no one else has this issue.

I have the 106RC4 update installed, but it was happening before that. I have reinstalled FPSC many times and get the same results. There has to be an answer some where.

All of the info that I have is in this thread.
