I get this error, and a reinstall of directx does not work. What should I do?

DirectX 9.0 installed (589824). Requires DirectX 9.0c (December 2005) or later.

Reinstalled from where?

If you use the web update from HERE then it'll give you the latest version of 9.0c ... there are many versions of 9.0c, which may be why your reinstall didn't work - you may have installed an older version.

I had the same thing happen to me upon reinstalling DBpro to my reinstalled XPsp2. The file that fixed it was:
DXWEBSETUP.exe
from: microsoft
fileversion 6.0.2600.0.
filedesc: Directx 9.0 Web setup

This file installed the .net framework, but more importantly seemed to add/update files that were missing from the dxsdk_dec2005 and runtime, which I installed first.

seems that there are a lot of issues out their with directx not installing all of the necessary files.

If it's of any help, I've just finished re-installing DB Pro and patched it with DBProUpgrade66.exe - after which programs which ran fine with the previous version of DirectX 9.0c I had installed wouldn't run.

I've know about the 300K Directx 9.0 Web setup program, but all the downloading is a pain if you have more than one computer to install it on (or like me have clients you need to install it for).

The link below is to the FULL install file for the April 2007 release of DirectX 9.0c (49.7 MB).

I've just installed it and everything now works fine again!

Awesome fix! That directx link http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx.html
worked perfectly. I did have to repair my fpsc and my Majic fps, but it all worked perfectly.

Thanx
