I am trying to use FPSC on an external hard drive it works but when ever I try to play a game that I have already built when I put it on a cd about 1/3 through the loading process it says "failed to open zip" then i get and error 13 message and finally I get a runtime error 105 message. What can I do?

Note:It won't let me download any fixes.

It will not run directly from a CD! If thats what your trying to do?

This is because the game needs to re-write when you play your game. So running it from a write once device will not work!

hope this helps!

maybe you could use an installer so it creates a setup file then burn that to a CD and give it you friends or whatever

I thought he said he was running it from an external hard drive, not a CD.

That is what Nicholas Primiano said. That he was running it from an "external hard drive" not a cd or other removable media.

There was mention of "failed to open zip" in the following threads:

I didn't read through the posts to see if there is a fix or work around, Nicholas Primiano. You will have it do that on your own. I used the seach function of the forum and just looked for the error messages you posted. If you use the search function at the bottom of every forum page you will probably find what you need. Even if you dont find an answer you might find that it is a bug that you can't do anything about or there might be a work around that someone else has posted somewhere.

Good luck.

When read with the rest of the post, it just looks like bad english. It could be anything at this point.

Nicholas Primiano, are you trying to play the game from a CD?

Please answer "Yes" or "No" to keep it simple so we dont get confused.

Nicholas Primiano, there are 2 separate issues. First of all you cant play a game made with FPSC from a CD. The game has to be on a Hard Drive.

The other issue is running FPSC on an external Hard Drive.
It should run just fine. I even made a copy of my FPSC root folder and put it on my other pc and it ran just like it was installed on that PC. there should be no issues running FPSC off of an external drive. I suggest that you follow up on the threads I listed above for that issue.

Once again, Good Luck.
