I've been giving some serious thought lately to creating an alternate texture set for this pack; using photographic textures. I just wanted to let you all know that these new textures will replace the current ones for new downloads (the originals will still be available though). People who currently own a copy may grab the new texture set for free when it's done (no date on that, but it will happen), by sending me either corresponding order info (e-mail and name, etc.) or by reminding me how you won it.

I'm doing this because I have my eye on creating WWII Pack #2 next (whenever that may be), and I want more realistic textures in that pack...therefore, to keep things meshing well, I decided to update the textures of pack #1.

If you guys have any thoughts, let me know; but like I said, it's going to be awhile as I have to either buy the textures, or go out with my digital camera (which I'm more inclined to do).

I'll be making these new textures before starting on the 2nd Pack.

Awsome, I allways thought they didunt match the texture quality that came with fpsc.. But if they look a little more realistic I may buy this pack! and perhaps ww2 pack #2 if that ones any good.

Don't worry, you'll still have your sacred Stop Signs...just with an alternate texture to use.

OK Keith, I'll be sending you a reminder email as asked but I'm also noting it here as sort of a double reminder.

OG WWII pack winner from the weapons contest. Mech entry.

That's actually a good idea, Loc. If you've won it in a contest, post your info here as Loc has done. I'll create a notepad document and copy and paste everything. If you've bought it, I already have your info at my store.

Thanks for the update Keith! Nice gesture.

I too won the pack in two of the Ozark games Maze contests. Don't remember which ones though.

Sounds good, I am interested in these textures, as I won your pack in your maze competition a while back.

Thanks again, in advance!

Why are you reading this?

Yep, I remember everyone so far (I can always check the OG forum threads as well).

One of the textures I'm thinking about leaving alone is the American ammo case; the German one needs to be re-worked...it's a bit too blue I think.

It's hard to forget you Fred, what with the abundance of Stop Sign screenshots around.

cool.its good to see you back in action KeithC.
i don't know if you have seen this book yet but i highly recommend it.
it is all in photo shop tho, but if you use something else to make textures the lessons are easily converted over.

I bought that book awhile ago; Luke has made an occassional post about it at the GG forums. I have 3 books on texturing, and it's the only one that uses actual color pictures. It is a great book and resource.

I've pretty much got most of the items that will go into Pack #2, in my head. I just need to start watching out for textures that can be used for both the new Pack, as well as the retexture for the first one.

Another good book is called "The Dark Side of Game Texturing".
