- I made my basic model in Milkshape3d
- I exported Wave Object .OBJ and loaded that into UVmapper
- I created a cylinder UVmap (that seemed to work best when loading into Milkshape), and saved the new OBJ and Texture
- I edited the UVmap in Gimp and save the Bitmap
- I imported back into MilkShape and applied the texture map

Everything looked good so far.

Now I exported from Milkshape as DirextX 8.0 file. (This seemed to be the only export listed that would be for DBpro)

Now I tried loading the .X object in dbpro, and I get the model but no texture.

Am I doing something wrong?

There can be 2 things.

1, the texture is not in the same folder as the model.

2, the texture name has a space in it, like "Duck Texture.bmp"

You have to rename the file it so every space is replaced with an underscore.

So "Duck Texture.bmp" is "Duck_Texture.bmp"
And "Texture .bmp" is "Texture_.bmp"

Thanks Xenocythe!

With all the importing/exporrting I never placed the texture image in the DBpro project folder!

Everything looks good now

if you open the .x file there is a line that spesifyes the location and name of the texture, just change this to where the texture file is. or you could delete the texture block(not the uv data!)and use set object texture.

learn blender, you will never regret it.
