Full details available on the download page.

If it's finished and ready for public consumption. What's the holdup on posting it for DL?

If it's finished and ready, holding it just seems, well, retarded.

"What's the holdup on posting it for DL?"

Lee hasn't actually coded it yet. At 12:00 midnight, he will rush down to his secret laboratory, full of state of the art PCs, whip out Visual C++ and make all the necessary changes. At 1:00 he will release 4.1, with version 4.2 following at 2:00.

ACK! did you fix the lightmap glitch???? You can only have one lightmap at a time for some reason now! I think it's a pointer screwup cuz you don't get an error when you use different light maps, you just see the first light map created. ACK!

Will there be an IDE update accompanying Patch 4.1? (Probably not I know, was just curious because I've noticed no talks about one).

I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand.

Ohh, excellent, that's gonna make a lot of people happy

I'm not noticing any difference speed or otherwise, but the bug fixes can only be good.

quick question, why doesn't 4.1 update my compiler? it goes into an updater and then says "nothing to update"

someone let me know if this is right, because it has installed some new files but i'm just wondering if i'll be able to use them without the compiler as 1.041

[edit-]
and i agree with the No-Debug option... it might increase the size of the installer, but i think we should have a choice of which to install - or have it install both and have an option within the IDE which to use.

Raven, it didn't update any files on the compiler bit for me either.

General query (maybe a problem)...
With patch 4 I had to "load image"(s) as the first thing in a prog before doing anything else otherwise it caused a runtime error 506. With patch 4.1 they just won't load period!
Anyone else found this as a problem?
I'm just using load image "filename.jpg", 1
The path for the file does exist, if I paste it from the prog into explorer, windows previews the image correctly. So what is it complaining about?

Write a one line program to load the JPG and see if that works...
If it doesn't then E-Mail Lee, if it does then your main code is incorrect.

Hmm... tried that and it does work.
Then tried commenting out most of the code and it didn't work.
Then removed the project file and re-created and it worked.
Then overwrote the new project file with the old and it continued to work!

Not sure why, may be something to do with exe type being media and compressed but it's working at the moment. Strange!

No updating at the compiler here either.
Is that how it is suposed to be?

My current project runs well with new patch, maybe a litte bit slower when loading and a little bit faster when running (I prefer it this way, so ok.)
I use kind of large objects (+2000 polycount).

No update at the compiler for me either, maybe its for people who dont have patch 4.0 installed?

Oh and Patch 4.1 killed my game... . It just compiles, comes up with a black screen and then dies. No errors so i cant fix it... strange...

I will be really p***ed off if i have to re write the code again... its over 50 pages now...

the solution is to create a project for your source code, however i think the team should look into this.

Hmm DELETE OBJECT is 3 times as slow in P4.1 with 600 objects (extreme test I know). With very few objects, no difference, with lots of objects loaded, the deletion process is very slow.

If you read the readme all the way, it says that code that was faster on some machines had to be removed, and it'd be back in command form later on. It only takes a bit of scrolling down...

As for the large .exes.... that kind of bothers me too... and there are indeed very large 'empyty' spaces in them, I think 3 (browsed with my hex editor)... so they compress so small. I don't mind too much . It's not bloatware unless it's on purpose, however... use your terms correctly please...

By the way.... it's compress'.

Technically it didn't update the compiler, it updated the host of DLLs that go with it, hence why it says what it does. Confusing, but accurate. If you got that message then it did actually work.

Check the timestamps on the DLLs for confirmation.

Cheers,

Rich

What's new in this patch? Is it just a technical fix, or are there commands attached?

Well... looks like this is another patch which I won't be installing then. Still stuck with patch 3.1, as the last patch just messed things up.

Think I'll wait for patch 10 !!!

well there are a good few things fixxed
its certainly alot more stable, especially the core commands - but i'm just wondering why the bug that means that you've gotta have a workspace to compile with linked media. (confusing but the only problem i've found so far)
