Well, guys - it's taken me plenty of time to gather my limited HTML knowledge together, but now I've finally managed to come up with a website!

You can check it out here: http://www.cross-bones.co.uk/emalice.

A couple of sections are still under construction, mainly because I only have access to my webspace once every two weeks and I was pushed for time, but I plan to include everything I've missed by the next update.

Anyway, what do you think? I'm not overly happy with how it came out myself - it seems a bit monochrome, I suppose. I'm now experimenting with ways of adding a dash of colour to it.

I do have a couple of other concerns about it, and I was hoping some of you could help me out: how quickly do the pages load for everybody? Also, it relies quite heavily on Viewpoint - does that load okay for everybody and, if you haven't got it installed, what happens?

Thanks for your time!

Well I tried the weapons page and it asked to install viewport. I said yes and went on to view the guns, only it didn't show them.

Hmmm, how odd - it worked on my Viewpointless home computer; after a bit of fiddling, anyway.

Did you try refreshing the page? I seem to remember that Viewpoint does a popup thing asking for the core files to be installed and then downloads new modules as it needs them. You should get a little green bar appear in the Viewpoint window when it's trying to nab new modules.

I suppose I ought to put something on the main page letting people know that they need Viewpoint, otherwise there could be some problems!

If it would make people happier, I could always change to standard JPEGs. Problem with that is the JPEGs are larger than Viewpoint files and don't look as good, let alone being static!

As there was no page telling me I needed to install a safe advert-less applet to view the armour and I was spammed 7 times in 20 seconds with requests to install this 'viewpoint' thingy - I left the site, sorry.

That's what I mean about letting people know!

Sorry, Dryll, I'll put a notice up on the main page by the next update. I hate adware and spyware as much as anyone, but Viewpoint isn't either, fortunately.

They get their money from commercial sites that use Viewpoint, since you've got to pay for it if you're selling something. Good job I'm all freeware!

I too refuse to install viewpoint. If you read the terms and conditions it periodically connects to their servers to check for updates etc but also the applet tracks, records and sends to viewpoint all the media you are browsing. they claim they will not get hold of any personal details off your pc but I remain sceptical. Sorry. Same reason I don't install gator or any other spyware hidden in a freebie viewer. Why not stick some jpegs of your stuff on the site for those like me who are paranoid.

Okay - I'll try to figure something out for you all.

It's a shame really, Viewpoint is such a cool applet...

Try doing the graphics using PNG - you get good compression without the image quality loss of jpegs

Yeah PNG are good but jpg can be set to top quality and still compress quite small!

Well, it's not just the image size/quality, it's that Viewpoint gives you a full 3D model to interact with; that'll be especially useful once I begin doing explosions.

Anyway, I've come up with a way of fixing it - I'm still going to have the Viewpoint stuff there, but it only shows up if you ask it to. That should keep everybody happy!

I'll try to get it updated sometime over the weekend. Thanks to all that've paid a visit!
