Hey just got the program along with four model packs (1,3,5,6)

I have a few queries...

1. How do I change the angle on a door?

2. How can I put a weapon on a surface?

3. I have ALOT of stuff to upload on, like butters stuff. But how do I copy the stuff in? This is what it said on one- Unzip the folder and copy the following files to the following places:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Copy "smoke5"

to

FPS Creatorfilesgamecoredecals
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
copy "flamer"

to

FPS Creatorfilesgamecoregunsww2
++++++++++++++++++++++++++

++++++++++++++++++++++++++
copy "flash20.dds"

to

FPS Creatorfilesgamecoremuzzleflash

Where is the main folder?

4. How do I change the hand?

I'll have others... but this is for now.

Thanks in advance

Fade, please always post your pictures as JPG / JPEG.

As for the invisible guns / entities, there are a few threads about this. Try searching for Invisible Entities or something..

Edit: * Try updating your video card drivers and or Microsoft Direct X

I can't find the manual

Oh, also. I am to think that the characters from model pack one couldn't use any up to date weapons like the 9mm from model pack 6?

Ok, breathe.

The manual is located in the program folder, C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Docs, if you did a default install.

After reading that, read the sticky's and then find Nicky's guide. Finally, don't try to make a game just yet. Take a while and play around with the editor, get used to the functions and shortcut keys, and the placement of segments, doors, windows, vents, etc. I know the pressure to dive into the program, believe me, but there is a lot of information you need to know first, and just messing around a while can teach you a lot.

Anyway, welcome to the wonderful (painfull, infuriating, [EDIT]) world of FPSC.

Happy game making.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Have you made any changes to the file structure?
Did you make any changes to the default install?
Does it do this with just characters or with any entity?
Do you have the latest DirectX and video drivers?

The message means that FPSC cannot find a file associated with that entity. It is either missing or not in the proper location/folder. It could also be a generic error caused by the programs inability to read, open or work with a file because your system does not have the very latest DirectX or video drives. If this is a stock/included entity, I would uninstall, update my system, and reinstall the program.

Your system specs would be helpful.

Best.

I have gotten the Weapons back to normal (fixed it self)

The error only occurs on model pack one guys right now.

I have directx9 and I'm not sure about my videocard.

Question for people with model pack 5- How do you use the grenade launcher on the assult rifle?

There was an order in which you had to install the model packs after a recent update.... can't remember what it was though. Are you still in V1 or have you updated?

You need DirectX 9.0c dated April, 2007.

Pull the trigger (right mouse button).

Best.

Thanks.

NONE OF THE CHARACTERS AT ALL WORK! I CAN NOT USE A CHARACTER WITHOUT THE PROGRAM FAILING.

This is very irritating.

I have updated completly though, and no one ever told me how to put objects on tables

Edit: Right clicking the assult rifle just fires, how does the grenade launcher on the bottom work?

Use "enter" to place objects on top of another. Not much help if the program keeps failing though. You still haven't posted your system specs.

I did post a screenshot, up a few posts. It's an error message when loading a level.

I found the manual a while ago.

Windows XP home edition
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.53GHz
Memory: 510MB Ram
DirectX version: DirectX9.0c

Is that enough?

Check in these posts for your runtime error

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=94126&b=28

Inaddition, please list everything you use in your level.
SCI-FI -> Scenery -> Terminal B
SCI-FI -> Rooms -> Bunker Segment
Model Pack 4 -> Something else
etc

It will just help track the issue down.

I think we may have found the culprit. 510MB RAM leads me to believe that you have an integrated vidio adapter that is using 2MB RAM?

Even if that's not the case, your celeron CPU coupled with the "less than minimum" memory is going to be a factor. I'm sticking with the video though.

See if you can find your video specs.

Right click the desktop
Select Properties
Click the settings tab
Click the advanced button
If you don't see the adapter information, click the Adapter tab
Look for Chip Type and Memory Size.

Best.

jeez too use the grenade launcher place an m203 and an M41A in your level start it up pick them up switch weapons to change firing mode. There ARE better ways to make picking it up more realistic but I'll tell you that after you learned more. I remember back in the good old FPSC days where I didn't know about the forums until I was as good as I am now Yep thankfully my noob days were done in private

Your graphics adapter is going to be a problem. Intel graphics is not a decent 3d accelerator. While the program will run on your system, you will have problems, especially as your levels grow in size. You don't meet the minimums for memory, your CPU is not good for gaming, and your graphics adapter is sub-par.

Sorry.

Better cards store have more memory. I would recomend a Nvidea GeForce 7300 GS or better graphics card. I have a 7300 at the moment and it is quite good. But i'm thinking of going sli.

I've got an intel card..... FPSC runs slower (meaning framerates on test and build) but I can still use it and have fun.

I'm saving for a new pc now... (Vista, X10, the whole 9 yards)

You just have to right click the weapon or ammo entity and change the Main script from weaponglow.fpi or ammoglow.fpi to just weapon.fpi and ammo.fpi

its that simple

Cheers from the docta

PS: I have the same issue with the walls, and how the door will open to a deadend, but i dont know whats wrong, how do you fix it, please tell
