Hi, I'm creating a game in FPSC *shock horror* and I can't get the lighting right... simply because I don't know the exact place the light will come from......

Does it come from the darker area at the top of the bulb??
Does it come from the very center of the marker??

Please I'd really like to know, so if anyone can help please reply ASAP.

Thanks,

E.D.

I think it comes from the very centre of the bulb.

K thanks.
I'm having huge problems trying to make it look like the light model is emitting the light.... there's always shadows where there shouldn't be .

The light the light-marker "emits" isn't directional, instead it's more like a ball of light, meaning that it will light up about as wide area in Y-axis as it does in X & Z-axises.

Currently there's no other option, but with right kind of placing and little tweaking you can make it look very nice.

Doggy what I mean is, where on the light marker does the light come from (obviously going in all directions)

Because the marker is a light bulb... more useful would be a sphere, saying "light comes from the middle of this sphere".

ok, go to entitybank\_markers

in there is the bulb.x that is used for the light marker.

just use a different mesh, such as a sphere.

I tend to think the light emits from the center of the bounding box of the bulb mesh...which puts it up more toward the screw in part. see attached jpeg for samples of placement and effect

Brilliant puppet that cleared things up for me.

Now I just have to move every single light marker in my level.... fun .

puppet,

Nice. That's the way to show something. Good info.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

I have way too much free time on my hands here at work lately. We just finished our Fantastic4 Rise of the Silver Surfer game after many long hours to coincide with the movie release and now I just sit and surf (web not silver)and try to resolve some of my own FPSC issues. (still have retarded enemies that don't react till I shoot them point blank and enemies that spawn in walls). So I'm happy to share my little experiments
