oki, now i could've sworn blindly that DarkBasic Professional used to have a Skysphere and Skybox commands ...
now i didn't just imagine them did i? because they ain't there no more - or are they just bloody well hidden.

it isn't anything big i suppose i'll just have to make my own but i'm sure it had these functions - someone please lemme know that i'm not going nuts, it did have them right?

Never heard of them - I've always made a box or sphere object with a negative size.

It doesn't have either - you have to make them yourself. Make a sphere then disable backface culling. DBC used to have a TEXTURE BACKDROP command, but this is not available in Pro.

pro has texture backdrop too (geez you don't read the manual at all do you)

i could've sworn in the early versions there was a skybox, it was something like

set skybox on, then skybox up [image] and such - maybe i've been using too many SDKs recently getting them all mixxed up.
need a holiday i think

already made it, just kinda though it was in there.
but i've been having that feeling ya know like when you put ya car keys down and you could've sworn you left them in the kitchen kinda feeling.

"pro has texture backdrop too (geez you don't read the manual at all do you)"

No it doesn't. If you use the command the program will just give a "Command is Now Obsolete" error. It will compile, but it won't run.

Unlike you, I read the manual AND test the commands. I don't know why it is still in the manual, but it definately doesn't work.

i could've sworn it used to work... i used demo 1.0 for a very long time, and there were a good few commands in that which worked that don't anymore.

backdrops sucked. 6 tiles onscreen was just evil. You could use it far starfields and that was it.

Skyspheres and boxes also suck, the stupid things display their seem lines and you cannot make them exempt from camera range meening if you want to spin them or move them to show windage you have to have an obsene camera range.

...I think i'm in a pessimistic mood tonight... Everything sucks.

"i could've sworn it used to work... "

Nope. It was one of the first commands I tried with the demo and retail 1.0.

Maybe it worked in the DBP Alphas / Betas, but it definately doesn't work now.

For skyspheres, I recommend that you use the model from the Basic3D Showcase example (which demos the various shading effects).

god knows what is actually going on down at DBS HQ

Even that puzzles me. Still, maybe it was in an early alpha and someone forgot that it had been removed when he wrote the help files.
