In patch 4.1 release notes it says:
"LOAD IMAGE when using the additional parameter for pixel perfect images now works with alpha and has no mipmaps"

Can someone explain in a language I can understand what this means please!

Have noticed that patch 4.1 loads images differently from patch 4 when running program in 16bit fullscreen mode. Specially noticable if texture is applied and stretched on a big object like a skysphere.

Whether I attach the mysterious ,1 to load image command or not, then image shows with an overlayed 'pattern'. Running in 24/32bit mode is perfect.

Just when I thought I had things sussed, another patch changes the rules!!!

Sorry to be a pain but can someone test this in both 16 bit and 24/32 bit mode and tell me what skysphere looks like.

I have tried putting a ,1 on load image command and tried the 3 different filter methods on the set object command but whatever I try the texture looks rubbish in 16bit mode. Before 4.1 it looked ok.

Surely it is not a neccessity to run in 32bit mode now is it???

It's not just skyspheres though, its also big objects.

hey sonic, same problems here. I noticed this when I was working with lens flares. What I think might be the cause is for some reason it is converting the bitmaps to some 8-bit palette mode. Just a guess, but I get annoying black and white dithering which looks far worse than what you have.

Current Projects: mini BSP maker 50%, Height Mapper with many features 75%, FPS/RTT Nameless at the moment 15%

Also tried with BMP, PNG, e.t.c. does the same thing.

From what I can gather, patch 4.1 has messed up in 16bit mode when loading images and texturing BIG objects. Before patch I had no problems. If I run in 32bit mode I also have no problem.

U5 fixes this problem by not dithering the image down. The pattern is the result of a forced dithering operation that did not quite work out for us.
