i seem to be having a little difficulty. my modeler made a gun model and i loaded it into a crappy model rendering program of mine. i used the texture object and load image commands correctly but the texture does not go on teh 3ds max object. any ideas?

wait...where does 3ds max come in? You made the object in max? you textured it in max? you rendered it in max? you weren't clear enough in the post.

3ds models stay untextured..at least till patch 4
haven't tested 3ds yet with the last 4.1

ANY model stay untextured if it's not given UV mapping coords in the modeler

yes i textured the whole thing and rendered it in max, and for fun i used purpple and green textures. However it did not show up in my renderer. What should i do?

Export to 3ds ascii ( not bin) and convert to X with a 3ds to X converter
Load as .X in DBP

textures must be in the same folder where the model is and they will show up automatically if it's been textured in max ( no need to use the texture object command )
